English Vocabulary: Giving Directions

How to Give Directions in English

When visiting a new city or trying to find a place, it's important to know how to ask for and
give directions in English. Common phrases include: 'go straight ahead', 'turn left', 'turn
right', and 'it's on your left/right'. You might also hear 'at the corner', 'across from', 'next to',
or 'between'. For example, someone might say: 'Go straight ahead for two blocks, then turn
right at the bank. The museum is next to the post office.' These phrases help you understand
how to navigate a city and find your way to specific locations. It's also polite to start with
'Excuse me, can you help me?' when asking for directions.
