30-34 NEW BRIDGE STREET
INTRODUCTION
0932.CRPT.01 REV -
SCOPE
This document sets out the lighting strategy and explores lighting solutions
for the proposed green wall on the south facade of the New Bridge building at
Blackfriars, London. The key objective of the lighting scheme is to generate
visual interest by incorporating vertical and grazing lighting elements along the
green wall to enhance the facing elevation as an identifiable landmark.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The main lighting objectives for this report are as follows:
• CREATE A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT - Designing a green wall
lighting environment for visual enjoyment.
• PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SPECTACLE - Aid in the creation of
eye catching feature lighting.
• ENHANCE THE LANDSCAPE AT A HUMAN SCALE - Incorporating a
concept that highlights architectural features with a human-led view.
• LIMIT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT - Using a sustainable approach by
installing lighting controls to limit overall energy use.

meeting any constraints imposed by planning conditions. The primary aims of the lighting design scheme can be summarised locations. Especially drivers, that are the part of the equipment

• To provide ethically considered material choices, with an aim to
reduce materials by integrating lighting with architecture.
• To provide a robust design both in terms of construction and
the need for the design itself to remain ‘current’.
• Provide a cost effective, sustainable and energy efficient system,
in terms of initial capital costs and continuing operational use.
• Select lamp types for their efficacy, colour rendition and
longevity to provide an efficient lighting solution with a predictable
maintenance regime.
• Utilise lamp types appropriate for the character and function of
each space while retaining a coherent, rationalised illumination
system in terms of lit effect, lamp types and equipment installed.
