MESSAGE FROM THE WOMAN’S GUILD NATIONAL CHAPLAIN

Receive Christian greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace and
peace to you from God our Father, our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

We are grateful to God for his grace, seeing that Guild week 2025 is here with us
once again. Indeed, this far the Lord has brought us. Our 24th GA Assembly
theme from Joshua 24:15 "... we will serve the Lord" has continued to be our
motivation to work in the Lord's vineyard. Moreover, the Guild theme this year
from Exodus 19:5 "A Treasured Possession: Ready for Service' plugs on the
same as it reminds us of our worth in God's sight. A treasured possession is
something that you own that is very special or important to you. It might not be
valuable to others, but it's valuable to you. This is a promise that is conditional,
meaning that for us to become God's treasured possession, we must fully obey
him and keep his covenant meaning whatever he tells us to do, and wherever he
sends us, we are ready to abide, then we will be special in God's eyes.

Therefore, as we observe our mission week, let us be willing to fulfill our part so
that the promise of a treasured possession will be a reality in our lives. This will
mean that we will have a unique and close relationship, a chosen people with a
special purpose.

I wish you all a fruitful week and may you continue serving the Lord with diligence.

Yours in Christ Service

Rt. Rev. Thegu Mutahi

Moderator 24th G.A /National Chaplain Woman’s Gui

MESSAGE FROM THE NATIONAL WOMAN’S GUILD BOARD CHAIRLADY

Receive Christian greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. May his grace and
peace be with you all as we thank God for another year of his continued faithfulness.
As women of faith, we have witnessed growth in our fellowship and individual walks
with Christ. God has graciously given us another year to celebrate His deeds. Upon
reflecting on the 2024 theme from Matthew 6:33 on ‘seeking the Kingdom’s
righteousness’ which was in line with the 24th GA theme, ‘We will serve the Lord’
from Joshua 24:15. We have faithfully served and remained rooted in God’s word.
Our theme this year, ‘Treasured Possession – Ready for Service’ from Exodus
19:5, Israel was chosen by God to be His special possession, highlighting His
inherent value and His love for them. This direct status was directly linked to a call
to service as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. This reminds us of our identity
and calling. God calls us his treasured possession; deeply loved and set apart for
his purpose. Their being God’s special people implied a responsibility to represent
Him and minister to the world. Their obedience to the covenant was the condition for
fully realizing this role. Israel was uniquely valued and cherished by God above all
other nations, even though He is the Lord of all the earth.
1 Peter 2:9; “But you are a chosen people, a holy nation, God’s special possession,
that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His
wonderful light.” With that identity comes responsibility; to serve as a holy people
and reflect his light. Christ is our ultimate example. We are urged to rid ourselves of
all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander, and to crave spiritual growth, and as
we grow in the Lord, we are built up as a spiritual house, a royal priesthood, called
to offer ourselves as living sacrifices to God.
Brethren just like Israel was chosen as God’s treasured possession, we too carry
that identity with purpose in order to reflect His light through service, humility, and
righteousness.
As the Woman’s Guild, let us serve the Lord wholeheartedly, knowing we are deeply
valued and specially chosen by God. May we embrace this calling with joy and
commitment. Let our service be marked by unity, obedience, and a desire to glorify
God in all we do.
May this Guild Week renew our strength and commitment as we continue to serve
in His vineyard.

Rev. Miriam N. Njuguna,

Chair, Woman’s Guild National Board.

MESSAGE FROM THE WOMAN’S GUILD DIRECTOR

Receive Christian greetings in the name of our Lord. Peace and grace be to you
all. We as the Woman’s guild fraternity acknowledge the goodness of the Lord who
carried us through the year 2024 and we are grateful to God that he enabled us to
accomplish all that we had planned last year. Here we are now in the year 2025
and we believe that this is the year of the Lord and we will do exploits in his
kingdom.

ACHIEVEMENT FOR THE YEAR 2024

Commissioning
Last year, we managed to commission a total of 3,500 new members which
translates to addition of more members and we thank God for the growth. Much
appreciation to the ministers, Kirk sessions and the woman’s guild fraternity for
giving your all to ensure that we had new members in our fold. Moreso we
sincerely want to congratulate all the new members who joined us this year and we
warmly welcome you into our fellowship

Promotion to glory
Last year a total number of 324 guild members passed on. This was informed by
the number of message of condolences which we issued in the year under review.
We acknowledge that the number is higher than recorded and we encourage the
guild leaders to ensure that they have the condolence letter for the departed. Let
us continue to pray for the families left by the Guild members.

World Day of Prayer.

This was held on the first Friday of March which was 1st March 2024 with a guiding
theme from Ephesians 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient,
bearing with one another in love” The day was observed by all parishes and was
successful. We encourage all the ladies to embrace this day and participate fully as
we join the women in many parts of the world in prayer.

Woman’s Guild National Leaders Conference

Last year on 24th -17th April 2024, we held a Woman’s Guild national conference at
PCEA Wogect Hotel- Mombasa with a total of 455 women leaders attending. The
guiding theme was Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well”. This
conference gave the women an opportunity to learn new ways of doing ministry,

9
network and also fellowship with each other. We thank all the parishes that
supported their leaders to attend this important conference.

Guild mission week

Last year we observed our Guild week from 27th -2nd June 2024 June guided by the
theme “Seeking the Kingdom’s righteousness” from the book of Matthew 6:33.
The week was successful and the theme challenged everyone to live righteous life.
Thankyou ladies for your participation which made the week colorful and lively.

Sponsorship
This year the department has been able to sponsor 61 students both boys and girls
through the Least Coin remitted by the parishes. We take this opportunity to thank
all the parishes who supported us in this act of mercy. We also had an opportunity
to meet with those students together with their parents/guardians on 7th December
2024 where we discussed the academic performance of the students and the
parents were taken through a seminar on parenting. The get together was graced
by our chaplain Rt. Rev. Thegu Mutahi and indeed was very successful.

Girls Rite of Passage Manual

As stated last year, we now have a manual for the girls entitled Girls Rite of
Passage (GRIP) that will assist our parishes in mentoring young girls in their
teenage hood. We urge all the parishes to use this resource to mentor the teenage
girls in their parishes.

Regional Capacity Building

This year we managed to meet Woman’s guild leaders from almost all our parishes
at the region level with a total number of 1,983 attendees. The main aim was to
create awareness on the Girls Rite of passage manual as well as discussing
Guild matters. We thank all the parishes who supported the Women leaders to
attend this important workshop.

Our theme 2025

This year’s theme is Treasured Possession: Ready for Service drawn from
Exodus 19:5 “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all
nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole world is mine” As
we serve the Lord let us know our worth and serve the Lord with diligence knowing
that we are God’s special possession, chosen by him for special assignments. May
this theme minister to all who will listen to it and bring transformation in people’s
lives.

REFLECTION ON THE THEME TREASURED POSSESSION: READY FOR
SERVICE

Readings: Exodus 19:1-8, 1 Peter 2:1-10

The bible is a story of God’s redemption history, presented in the Old Testament as
a shadow and fulfilled in the New Testament. In this story, God has sought to set
apart a people for Himself. A people who would reflect His character, live in
obedience, and be a light to the world. In both the Old and New Testaments, we see
this divine calling unfold. Exodus 19:1-8 and 1 Peter 2:1-10 reveal a powerful truth:
God's people are His treasured possession, chosen not only for a relationship with
Him but also for service and a mission.
The choosing is not enough without the readiness for service. A story is told of a
great kingdom, where a mighty king had many vessels made of gold, silver, and clay.
While the golden ones were admired, the king cherished a simple clay jar, using it
daily for water, oil, and healing herbs. One day, a drought struck, and the king sent
his servants to fetch water from a special hidden spring. The servants chose the
golden and silver vessels, but they were not only too heavy but they also broke out
of the weight. The servants went back for the clay vessel that was ready for use,
filled it with water, and carried it with ease, quenching the community’s thirst. The
people learned that the greatest vessel is not the most beautiful, but the one ready
to serve the king’s purpose.
The passage in Exodus 19 takes place at Mount Sinai, just three months after Israel’s
miraculous deliverance from slavery in Egypt. Here, God prepares to make a
covenant with His people. He reminds them of how He carried them “on eagles
wings” and brought them to Himself (Exodus 19:4). This imagery reflects God’s care
and faithfulness, his relationship with the people of Israel comes with a calling in the
following aspects
• Obedience and Covenant Relationship – God tells them, “Now if you obey me
fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured
possession” (Exodus 19:5). The word "treasured possession" refers to a
special treasure, something valuable and uniquely owned by a king. God was
offering Israel the privilege of being His special people, but it required obedience.

12
• A Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation – God did not merely save Israel from
Egypt for their comfort. He had a greater purpose: they were to be a “kingdom
of priests and a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6). This meant they were to represent
God before the nations, and offer sacrifices that were holy and acceptable to God
and reflecting His righteousness.

In the New Testament, Peter speaks to believers in Christ, showing how this identity
of being God’s treasured possession now applies to the Church. What Israel failed
to do under the Old Covenant, Christ fulfilled through His perfect sacrifice. Now, all
who trust in Him become God’s chosen people, royal priesthood, and holy nation
(1 Peter 2:9). Peter directly echoes Exodus 19, but now, instead of being limited to
Israel, this calling is extended to all believers in Jesus Christ. He summarizes this
possession into three areas;
• Spiritual Transformation – Peter begins by urging believers to rid
themselves of sin and grow spiritually: “Like newborn babies, crave pure
spiritual milk” (1 Peter 2:2). True transformation begins with desiring God’s
Word and allowing it to renew our minds and hearts.

• Jesus, the Living Stone – Peter describes Jesus as the cornerstone (1 Peter
2:4-6), the firm foundation upon which God builds His people. While some
reject Him, those who believe in Him become living stones, built into a spiritual
house for God’s presence and purpose.

• A Royal Priesthood with a Mission – Just as Israel was called to be a

kingdom of priests, believers in Christ now take on this role. The priesthood
is no longer confined to a select group but is given to all who follow Jesus.
We offer spiritual sacrifices including worship, service to humanity, and
sharing the gospel with the world.

God calls His people with a purpose which is to reflect His glory and serve Him. In
both Exodus 19 and 1 Peter 2, we see that being His treasured possession is not
just about being loved, but also being entrusted with a mission. Obedience is key;
while salvation is by grace, living in alignment with God's will brings fullness of life
and impact. Holiness and service go hand in hand. We are set apart to intercede,
share the gospel, and draw others to Christ through our lives.
Christ is our foundation, the cornerstone upon which our identity is built. Just as a

13
cornerstone determines the stability of a building, our faith and purpose must be well
grounded in Him. Without Christ, we have no firm foundation, but in Him, we are
secure. We are called not only to belong to Him but to declare His praises of him
who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light.
This year’s theme summarizes the PCEA Woman’s Guild purpose and mission, we
exist to equip women to be holy, obedient, and ready to serve. As a chosen people,
Guild members are called to intercede for families, mentor the next generation, and
live as Christ’s ambassadors in their communities. Like Israel and the early Church,
we are set apart to bring God’s light into the world, faithfully serving His purposes in
our time.

WATU WATEULE WA MUNGU.

1 Wana Israeli walipopiga kambi Mlima Sinai,

Mtakuwa tunu watu wangu kuliko makabila yote.

Tuwache uovu hila na unafiki, husuda na masingizio,
Sote tuwe na hamu ya maziwa halisi maziwa ya kiroho,
Ili kwa hayo yote tupate kuukulia zaidi wokovu.

Common questions

The Woman's Guild activities and messaging for 2025 are grounded in biblical passages such as Exodus 19:5 and 1 Peter 2:9. Exodus highlights God's promise that those who obey Him will be His treasured possession, framing the idea of being valued and called to a purpose. 1 Peter reinforces this by describing believers as a chosen people, a royal priesthood, entrusted with the mission to declare God's praises and live as examples of His light. These scriptures form the theological foundation for the Guild's emphasis on spiritual growth, service, and community leadership .

The Woman's Guild seeks to empower women and girls by enhancing their spiritual maturity, developing leadership skills, and providing training and skills enhancement. This empowerment is intended to prepare them for roles in the family, church, and society, aligning with the Guild's mission to transform society holistically. Activities like regional capacity building, mentoring through the Girls Rite of Passage Manual, and providing educational sponsorships exemplify how these objectives aim to foster independence and leadership among women and girls .

Exodus 19:5 portrays Israel as God's treasured possession, emphasizing their unique value and the conditional nature of this status, requiring obedience to God's covenant. This notion is expanded in 1 Peter 2:9 to include all believers in Christ, not just Israel. They are described as a chosen people, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation. This identity comes with the responsibility to declare God's praises and reflect His light through service. Believers are called to spiritual transformation, rejecting sin and craving spiritual growth, thereby becoming living stones in a spiritual temple built upon Jesus, the cornerstone .

Spiritual growth and moral integrity are central to the Woman's Guild's framework for societal transformation, as they form the foundation for empowering women to influence change. Spiritual growth, emphasized through biblical teachings and time spent in prayer and reflection, nurtures a deeper relationship with God. Moral integrity, undergirded by core values such as honesty and accountability, ensures that the transformation being promoted is sustainable and aligned with Christian values. This combination equips women to lead by example, fostering transformation in their communities .

The theme of 'valued identity' profoundly influences the strategic goals of the Woman's Guild by reinforcing the importance of each member realizing their worth as a treasured possession of God. This awareness propels the Guild's strategic aims to enhance women's and girls' capacities through education, skills enhancement, and spiritual growth. By fostering an understanding of their unique value, the Guild motivates its members to contribute more effectively to their families and communities, thereby achieving its mission of societal transformation .

The theme 'Treasured Possession: Ready for Service' reinforces the Woman's Guild's vision and mission by encapsulating the idea of being valued and chosen by God for a specific purpose—service. It reflects the vision of being an inclusive Christian women's organization that empowers women to transform society. The theme links value ('Treasured Possession') with responsibility ('Ready for Service'), motivating members to act in accordance with their divine calling. The theme also supports the Guild's mission to empower women through training, leadership development, and advocacy, reinforcing their transformative role in society .

The Woman's Guild plans several strategic activities for 2025, including capacity building for leaders, Guild Week events, and educational sponsorships. These activities align with their theme 'Treasured Possession: Ready for Service', emphasizing the value of every woman as God's chosen and their readiness to serve. Capacity building helps develop leadership skills and spiritual maturity, while community and educational initiatives like sponsoring students and the Girls Rite of Passage Manual exemplify the Guild’s commitment to transforming society in reflection of their divine calling .

The planned activities for Guild Week in 2025, including prayer and fasting, community engagement, and educational visits, directly embody the themes of transformation and service. These activities encourage participants to experience spiritual renewal and demonstrate service to the community, reflecting the Guild's mission of societal transformation. The emphasis on communal activities such as visiting schools and communal work fosters a spirit of unity and shared purpose in service, bringing the message of transformation and readiness to serve into practical execution .

The Girls Rite of Passage Manual is a significant component of the Woman's Guild's 2025 agenda as it serves as a critical tool for mentoring young girls during their teenage years. The manual aims to provide structured guidance and support, aligning with the Guild’s objective of empowering young women with the necessary skills and spiritual foundation to navigate life’s challenges. This initiative also demonstrates the Guild’s commitment to nurturing future leaders, thereby ensuring the continuity of their mission to transform society through informed and spiritually mature individuals .

The core values of the Woman's Guild include accountability, compassion, fellowship, honesty, integrity, inclusivity, and partnership. These values underpin the organization's mission to empower Christian women and transform society through various methods such as worship, fellowship, and skill enhancement. The emphasis on accountability and partnership supports regional capacity building efforts and mentoring initiatives like the Girls Rite of Passage Manual, all aiming to develop leadership qualities and spiritual maturity among women and girls .
