INTRODUCTION
Glad to introduce myself as Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Main Market , Village and Post
Bheera Kheri, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, India. I am bearer of Indian passport V0353068,
valid from 29/09/2020 through 28/09/2030. I was born on 05/02/2001. I have now applied for
Diploma of Business leading to Bachelor of Business in Queensland University of Technology.
FAMILY BACKGROUND
I come from a very decent family and we are Three Member including me. Mr. Bhagwant Singh,
my father , is an agriculturist and my mother is a home-maker and her name is Pramjeet Kaur.
One of my choices to pursue my education abroad, namely in Australia, shows my trust in my
judgment and my ability to wait patiently for the results of my choices. My family has also
supported me wholeheartedly in my choice to pursue an international education. In terms of
the family financial background, the total net worth is 2,28,75,000.00 which is 4,22,515.00
Australian Dollars as per the current currency rate. This net worth includes moveable assets
such as Motorbikes, car and agriculture implements, in the name of my father along with
immoveable assets such as agricultural land, in the name of my mother, father and my
grandfather. So I believe that these available funds would be sufficient for educational and
living expenses in Australia and I would have not have to depend on any part time work in order
to make sure my survival.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
In terms of my education, I completed my secondary education in the year 2018 from ICSE
board and I got a 70% grade. Later on I chose the field of business to continue my study further
and in 2020 I completed my senior secondary education. My score in 12th grade was 80% which
was really good score and I was highly motivated for my future endeavors. My family was also
really proud of me and my hard work paid off. In case of extra-curricular activities conducted by
my school authorities, I was always eager to participate in all of them. My basic interest was in
numbers and my school authorities used to conduct math quiz contests so in all those contests
so in all those contests, I had participated and excelled by winning the competition. Other than
that, I used to take the
responsibility of organizing and managing events. I have always been passionate for working
among people and leading them so I used to lead my school teams when we used to organize
different events. I loved doing this thing. Seeing all these abilities of mine, one my tutors
suggested me that I should continue studying business studies because all the capabilities of
mine will lead me towards career. On that day, I also got the realization and made my mind that
I will excel in this stream. After completing my 12th grade, I have Completed the Computer
Diploma of One year in ADCA for gain the Computer Knowledge.I started searching out
different options for my further study and I got my hand on different options. But during my
research, I acknowledged the fact that India would not be a suitable option so I thought for
studying abroad and Australia is best suitable for me. And in Diploma of Business leading to
Bachelor of Business is the course in which I was meeting all the requirements in QUT so I
selected this option. While searching to study abroad, I got to know that English Language
Proficiency Test is mandate so I sat in exam on 10/07/2021 and my overall band score is 6.0
Individual band score is mentioned below.
Listening 5.5
Reading 6.0
Writing 6.0
Speaking 5.5
WHY AUSTRALIA?
After much research, I whittled the countries down to Australia. The main reasons for this are:
First and foremost, both domestic and international students agree that the Australian
educational system is among the best. It was ranked as the third-largest international student
education provider in 2016. The main reason for this is because Australia offers both theoretical
and practical information, which helps students learn the material in-depth as well as obtain
the experience they need to know when and how to apply it. It offers entirely industrial-based
education, giving it an advantage over schooling in other nations. The curriculum and facilities
offered by the Australian educational system will inspire me to learn, invent, and concentrate
on my final objective.
The fact that Australia is the most economical choice when comparing the living and
educational standards it provides is the second thing that makes me want to move there. I
researched some of the best colleges in other countries, such as University of Michigan in the
United States, University of Salford in London, and University of Chicago in the United States,
but these weren't within my price range due to their high costs. In addition, the Australian
dollar exchange rate is 54.43, while the US dollar exchange rate is 79.29 and the UK pound
exchange rate is 95.38. After their academic semester, Australian students are also permitted
to work 40 hours per week in part-time occupations. By adopting this side job, students can
control their finances. It is also affordable for me in compared to Canadian universities like the
University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. The harsh cold environment that
prevails in Canada for the majority of the year is the biggest deterrent for potential immigrants.
It doesn't exactly match me as a result. Due to the climate similarities between Australia and
India, adjusting will be simple.
In Australia, all immigrants are welcomed with open arms, which helps them adjust more
quickly. Living there is interesting and thrilling since it is a beautiful, cosmopolitan country with
citizens from all over the world. Students have the chance to fully immerse themselves in a new
setting, providing them the chance to discover new cultures and engage in activities they never
thought they would. Gaining exposure was one of the reasons I chose a foreign institution, and
Australian universities will also help with that goal. As there is a legal framework that
safeguards the rights of the overseas students and ensures that they receive a quality
education, ESOS, or Education Service for the Overseas Students, helps students feel secure. As
a result, I choose Australia over all other nations for the reasons listed above.
WHY NOT ANY OTHER COUNTRY
There are many additional nations to pick from, including well-known ones for international
students like the United States, Canada, and Europe. In comparison to Australia, the USA is
quite expensive in terms of living costs and education fees. After the USA, I quickly abandoned
the idea of going to Canada, firstly because of the country's extremely chilly climate for
someone like me who has lived most of his life in one of India's hottest regions, and secondly
because it already hosts a large number of Punjabi students. Although it might be more
comfortable to live with people who are similar to you, Surrey is also known as the "little
Punjab." However, this merely defeats the purpose of intercultural variety, which is crucial for
someone studying business like myself. The language and communication divide in Europe is
too great to close any time soon. Long-term, it will make my schoolwork harder. Studying
English as a secondary language has given me the communication skills I need to get by and
establish myself in a country where it is the official language.
WHY NOT INDIA?
There are several reputable educational institutions in India that offer top-notch training, but
even the most gifted pupils have trouble getting accepted into these institutes. The limited
amount of seats we have access to as a result of the reserve procedure in the admissions
system is the primary cause of that. There are reserves established up for students from the city
or state, and there are relatively few seats accessible for students from any other state, while
there are reservations made up for students from the economically disadvantaged areas in
some universities. Additionally, due to the high level of difficulty of the admission examinations,
students must take a significant amount of time away from their vital time period. I don't want
to do that because I am aware that the odds of being admitted are very tiny, even with
respectable test results. It is very difficult to enrol in respected universities and institutions in
India because of all of these difficulties.
Second, different national educational systems around the world have quite varied curricula
and teaching methods, such as the Australian and Indian systems. International universities
provide a wide range of degrees, many of which combine in-depth study and skill-based
training. Indian students are unable to realise their full potential as a result. Comparatively,
Australian education places more of an emphasis on practical knowledge and work-related
experience. Compared to students studying in India, students studying abroad in the US, UK,
Australia, etc., enjoy far greater opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Furthermore, compared to studying in India, where I was born, studying overseas will expose
me to a wider range of cultures. Since an international degree is more valuable and respected
than a local degree, it will boost my chances of getting a job in India. Graduates from
international colleges are paid more and have more employment options in India. Thanks to the
exposure I'll receive there, I will be able to develop my communication skills. Thus, all of these
elements had a big impact on my decision to pursue my education in Australia rather than
India.
CHOOSING QUT AS MY PREFFERED UNIVERSITY
A student has a lot to think about while selecting a university, including but not limited to
university rankings, accreditation, and alumni ratings. For international students, life at a
foreign institution is more than simply a place to memorize data from textbooks; it's also a
chance to learn new skills and look for opportunities for personal growth that weren't available
to them back home. It is vital to make sure that there are enough opportunities for them to
engage in and integrate into the multicultural environment.
There are several amenities available to international students at QUT, which is based in
Brisbane. By supporting over 100 groups, QUT makes sure there is something for everyone.
Students are introduced to the worlds of theatre, dance, music, art, design, film, and new
media as part of QUT's vast arts and culture programme. Practical teaching techniques that
guarantee progressive skill improvement are pioneered by QUT. With a degree from QUT, a
student is prepared for employment as soon as they finish their course. With linkages to the
leading industries, QUT presents its grandeur with grace.
DIPLOMA OF BUSINESS LEADING TO BACHELOR OF BUSINESS
As initially I would start with Diploma of Business and the duration of this course is total 12
months. And the course will start on 25th July, 2022 and expected completion date of this is 18th
February, 2023. Diploma of Business is a bridging course to the Bachelor of Business. It provides
a guided transition into university life with smaller class sizes and supportive teaching staff. I
will gain essential abilities and self-assurance via QUT College's Diploma in Business. This course
will help me in taking my talent to the job market or enter the second year of the QUT Bachelor
of Business more quickly.
I will learn useful academic and business skills to prepare myself for success in my upcoming
academics. I will analyze current business issues and get a thorough awareness of the domestic
and worldwide business scene, covering the same material as the first year of the QUT Bachelor
of Business programme. Small class sizes at universities will allow for greater one-on-one
assistance from my experienced faculty. Throughout the 12-month programme, I will be led by
university-style lectures, tutorials, and workshops. The Diploma in Business programme offers a
global introduction to the main business disciplines and functions. I'll receive instruction from
qualified teachers, which will help me get ready for my degree programme. Because the
diploma and bachelor's degree programmes in business are continually updated to reflect
current industry best practises, I may use the knowledge and abilities I will acquire to get
employment and further your career.
After the completion of Diploma of Business, I will be transferred for my Bachelor of Business
and my degree will start on 27 February, 2023 and the expected completion date is 31 st
December, 2024. This degree will prepare me for diverse roles such as founder, procurements,
business development, operations, team leadership, asset management, client relationship and
many more. I can also study this major as part of QUT's Bachelor of Business - International
degree, which includes one year of compulsory overseas studies . I will gain practical experience
and learn from award-winning lecturers with the most popular business degree in Queensland. A QUT
business degree will give me real-world experience and develop my key business skills to
thrive in my future career, locally and globally. For the aspiring entrepreneurs and business
leaders, a business management degree is consistently a popular choice. It provides the
academic knowledge and skills to pursue global career opportunities and helps you develop a
broad understanding of businesses and specific areas such as finance and human resources.
The many transferable skills I'll develop are in high demand, such as communication, decision
making, numeracy, presentation and generally understanding how an organisation operates. As
a business graduate, I'll have a wide variety of career choices along with the aptitude required
to work in any industry. A business degree teaches generic skills like self-confidence, critical
thinking, project collaboration, task management and presentation skills. Practising and honing
these skills can contribute to career progression and earning potential.
There is a list below having the benefits of graduating from Bachelors degree:
Gain General Knowledge. ...
High-Demand Job Market. ...
Career Flexibility. ...
Networking Opportunities. ...
Projected Earning Potential. ...
Transferable Skills. ...
Prepare for future managing innovation and change.
Learn from real-world managers and develop your skills in entrepreneurial thinking and
strategic decision making.
Choose a stream in management or entrepreneurship.
Prepares for diverse roles such as founder, procurements, business development, operations,
team leadership, asset management, client relationship and many more.
In a world where organisations are being disrupted and expectations of work and professional
practice are changing, QUT’s management major will help me develop the skills to confidently
manage teams, risk, projects and operations in changing environments. I will develop skills in
entrepreneurial thinking, strategic decision making, leadership, communication, and
negotiation, and have the opportunity to study either entrepreneurship or project
management.
The focus of this major is to provide students with the knowledge and skillset to implement the
efficient and effective use of organisational resources; whether in new entrepreneurial
ventures or established organisations. In addition to the internship unit, Workplace learning, I
will have the opportunity to participate in programs that provide valuable learning experiences
beyond the classroom: hackathons, negotiation competitions, start-up weekends, pitch
practice, innovation challenges, international case competitions, blogging and real-world
collaborations with others from industry, other disciplines and government.
INCENTIVES TO RETURN BACK TO HOME COUNTRY, INDIA
I want to go back to India when I finish my education because I want to live there with all of my
family members. I am responsible for paying for and safeguarding the welfare of my parents
since we are too close. I want to support my country and see growth in my own country.
Another motivation for my desire to operate a business locally, nationally, and internationally is
my desire to return home. I'll apply my newly acquired skills in the business world and for
multinational organisations. My chosen course is very promising course in my home country
and many students are doing this course in India but they are unable to receive required
practical knowledge from India and can only gain theoretical knowledge.
MY PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
I have every confidence that, after successfully completing my degree, I will acquire the
necessary skills and global experience to launch a successful career in this field. The high calibre
of foreign education will make me a sought-after applicant for the most esteemed companies in
my own nation and others; my resume is sure to stand out with the degree I hope to earn in
Australia. In turn, I will be able to live out the rest of my days without worrying because this will
guarantee me a stable profession and future. I'll be applying for a position as an HR Manager,
Business Development Manager, Business Analyst, or Team Leader at leading MNCs in India,
including Reliance, Samsung, Nestle, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Infosys.
At the conclusion of this paragraph, I would like to state that the only reason I am applying for a
subclass 500 visa is to obtain a highly regarded and recognised degree that would ensure I get a
well-paying job at one of the top corporations in my home country. For me, it is crucial to build
the groundwork for the goals I have set for myself because I am a student who is constantly
working to deliver and reach the best degree of performance and payout, respectively. As much
as I have faith in my talents, I also recognise the reality that decisions have consequences for
the rest of my life. I always want to choose wisely to avoid having any regrets.
I do not intend to over stay my visa duration and pledge to be a law abiding individual while I
am there. All the knowledge and experience that I am to gain from my studies in Australia, I
wish to use the same for the development of my country. I firmly believe that a welcoming
country like Australia will give me memories that I will cherish for a life time
DECLARATION
I declare that I will value Australia ethics and abide by rules and regulations as an international
student and abide by all the conditions imposed on a student visa holder. I only wish to stay in
Australia to gain valuable education that will help me retain a secure professional future in my
home country India. I shall obey the visa conditions which I would need to full fill under the visa
subclass 500 that are:
o I will have to maintain 85% of attendance at my university.
o I will have to inform the course provider about my contact details within seven days of
my arrival in Australia or any further changes in the same in the future.
o I will have to maintain my OSHC till the validity of my visa.
o I shall not work more than 40 hours fortnightly.
o I will have to leave the country before the expiry of my visa.
Regards
Gagandeep Singh
