INVITATIONS
Man is a social animal. We need to be with people. This is the reason why we
celebrate many occasions together. To invite someone for an occasion, we
use the written format which is invitation. Invitations are generally printed
cards through which we invite our guests on some auspicious occasions like
wedding, birthday, wedding anniversary, housewarming, inauguration of a
shop etc
Invitations are of two types
FORMAL
INFORMAL
FORMAL INVITATION
1. In case of a Formal invitation, all the information is written in separate
lines.
2. Name of the host
3. Formal phrase of invitation example -request the pleasure of your benign
presence, seek your gracious presence, solicit your gracious presence on
the auspicious occasion.
4. Date

6. Venue
7. Occasion
8. This invitation is written in third person.
9. The whole information has centre setting.
10. In case a VIP is invited as a chief guest, the name of VIP should be
mentioned.
11. Simple present tense should be used.
12. At the end, towards left, write RSVP( repondez Sil vous plait) please reply
to this name, address and phone number.
13. Towards right hand side, write-" with best compliments from"

invitation.
5. You have received an invitation from your aunt at Manali to spend some days during

FORMAL LETTERS
