RESEARCH OF POWER TRANSMITTED BY A BELT IN

RELATION TO SHAFTS
Introduction
I. In day to day life we tend to use belts and shafts for transmission of power from the source
(engine) to the desired parts to be driven.
belts can be classified into 3 types : flat belt
v belt
circular belt
but all of these belts transmit different amount of power between pulleys
also there are different types of shafts ; solid circular shafts
hollow circular shafts
II.These two types of shafts are the most commonly used in different types of engineering
industries to transfer power between the engine and the driven parts
in this research project consideration of power transmitted by either the belt or the shaft will
be determined.

I. During this project research, the writer will be
determining power transmitted by the belt and
the shafts
objectives
I. The main purpose for the research project is to
determine the best mode of transmission of
power while in comparison of either the belt or
the shaft.
