CONTENT STANDARD 3.1 Reproduction and growth in human
LEARNING STANDARD 3.1.5 Give examples of features inherited by the offsprings from their parents or
ancestors such as skin colour, iris colour and hair type.
3.1.6 Explain observations about growth and heredity using sketches, ICT, in
written or verbal form.
OBJECTIVES By the end of this lesson pupils should be able to :
1. Identify and list at least three physical features inherited from parents or
ancestors.
2. Match at least three examples of inherited features like skin colour, iris colour,
and hair type to real-life people or images.
INTRODUCTION 1) Pupils watch a short 2-minute animated video explaining inheritance in a child-
friendly way. Then teacher introduce the key term of Inherited Features. (All)

2) Pupils explain that inherited features are physical characteristics passed from
ACTIVITIES
parents to children based on features like:
 Skin colour (light, medium, dark)
 Iris colour (brown, blue, green)
 Hair type (straight, wavy, curly)

3) Pupils use a set of family photos (or drawn cartoons) and explain which
features they inherited from the parents. (high & moderate)

4) In pairs, students create a “Feature Family” collage by choosing different hair,


eye, and skin samples and explaining which parent they think it came from.

5) Pupils summarize the key idea: “We all inherit features that make us special
and unique.” Pupils state “Different features make us beautiful and interesting.”

6) Home task: Interview family members and list features they think they
