#1 Service News Letter dated January 22, 1963, announced availability
REVISIONS - of Service/Parts Manuals to cover the Cessna-Crafted Electronics
ELECTRONICS (ADF, Nav/Com, Nav-O-Matic 200 and 300). Revisions to each of
SERVICE/PARTS these manuals have recently been prepared which provide additional
MANUALS - information relative to the test equipment needed to carry out the
MODELS - ALL repairs outlined in the manuals. Copies of these revisions are
SINGLE ENGINE enclosed - - additional no charge copies may be obtained from the
Cessna Service Department upon request. All future orders for
Service/Parts Manuals (D-171-13, D-172-13, D-173-13, and D-174-13)
will include these revisions.
These revisions provide for local purchase and fabrication on many
of the test equipment items. Listed below are the test equipment
items which are currently available from the Cessna Parts Department.

#2 Following corrections should be made to all 100 Series Service
100 SERIES manuals now in use,
SERVICE MANUAL
CORRECTIONS - 1) Pages 1-3 and 8-6 - - The elevator down travel for
MODELS 150-172- the Models 172 and P172 should be changed from
P172-180-182-185 26° ± 1° to 23° + 1° - 0°.
2) Pages 1-7 and 6-1 - - The Model 185 aileron down
travel should be changed from 15° to 140 ± 1°0
3) In some copies of the 100 Series Service Manual, the
wiring diagrams were assembled incorrectly. In the
incorrect manuals, beginning with Page 8,2 of the
Model 172-P172 Section (0500062), and continuing up
to Section 13.0, the Model 182 diagrams (0770610)
were erroneously inserted. The corresponding Model
172-P172 pages (8,2, up to Section 13.0) will be
found in the Model 182 Section, These pages should
be switched to their correct positions,

#3 Keeping the magnetos timed properly continues to be very important
MAGNETO in obtaining satisfactory engine operation. Complete up-to-date
BREAKER POINT information on magneto timing is included in the latest Cessna
TIMING KIT - Service Manuals and should be reviewed to make certain proper
ALL MODELS procedures are being followed, A picture of a template (for cut
out purposes) has been included in the 100 and 200 Series Service
Manual for use in internally timing the Bendix magneto. Bendix
has available a regular timing kit which may be obtained through
any Bendix Scintilla Service Station - - Part Number is 11-8150,
and is priced $5.50.
