SUBJECT: CARE OF TAHOE BLUE METALLIC PAINT
MODELS AFFECTED: MODELS 310 AND 320
Reports received indicate that the Tahoe Blue vinyl metallic paint
which has been used for striping on some of the 1962 Model 310's
and 320's, is subject to more rapid chalking or fading than the
other paints.
The Tahoe Blue paint will therefore require somewhat more care in the
form of cleaning, polishing and waxing to retain its original beauty.
In most cases, chalked or faded areas can be polished out through the
use of the following procedure -
1. Wash aircraft.
2. Rub chalked areas with a light rubbing compound such
as Simonize, DuPont #606, or equivalent.
3. Apply coat of hard paste wax - automotive type.
In the event that the Tahoe Blue on an airplane has deteriorated to a
point that it cannot be polished out, it should be repainted. Effect-
ive with 310G0133 and 320A-0001, a production change was made in the
Tahoe Blue paint to improve its weathering characteristics. This new
paint is available from the Cessna Parts Department and should be used
when repainting Tahoe Blue stripes. The Cessna Part Number on this new
paint remains the same (CES 1054-394). However, it carries a new Code
Number, #82B-19634, which also appears on the label on the can.
An allowance will be made to cover the cost of repainting Tahoe Blue
stripes which cannot be polished out, providing the airplane involved
is less than one year old.
This allowance will be paid on the basis of an inspection and approval
for repainting by Cessna Regional Service Managers. Therefore, Distri-
butors having Dealers with Tahoe Blue airplanes, which they feel require

repainting, can make arrangements by notifying the Regional Service
Manager for their area of the airplane by serial number.
NOTE: Cleaning and sanding is considered satisfactory
preparation for repainting - stripping will not
be required. Surface should be sanded with #600
paper (wet). Spray with two very light mist coats,
and seal with one wet coat.
As outlined in the Owner's Manual, it is important on new aircraft that
the paint be allowed to cure for approximately 90 days. Washing should
be done using cold water and a very mild soap - the use of harsh deter-
gents should be avoided.

SUBJECT: CARE OF HERMOSA TURQUOISE PAINT
(Supplement #1 to Service Letter 62-65)
MODELS AFFECTED: MODELS 310 AND 320
Service Letter 62-65 concerned care of Tahoe Blue paint, and
announced an adjustment program to cover airplanes where the paint
could not be polished out.
Reports indicate that under certain conditions a similar chalking
problem exists on Hermosa Turquoise metallic vinyl paint used on
some 1962 Model 310's and 320's.
Effective with 310H0008 and 320A0026 and on, a production change
was made in the Hermosa Turquoise paint to improve its weathering
characteristics. This new paint is available from the Cessna Parts
Department, and should be used when repainting Hermosa Turquoise
stripes which have deteriorated beyond the polishing stage. Part
Number on this new paint remains the same (CES 1054-395), however,
it carries a new code, #82A-1936A, which appears on the label on
the can.
The same type of adjustment program has been established to cover
Hermosa Turquoise paint as outlined in the subject Service Letter
for Tahoe Blue paint, i.e., allowances will be paid on the basis
of a Cessna Regional Service Manager inspection, and is applicable
on airplanes which are less than one year old.
