1. Prove that (√2+√3)2 is irrational number, given that √6 is an irrational number.
2. Given that √3 is an irrational, prove that (2-√3)/5 is an irrational number.
3. The length, breadth and height of a room are 8m 50cm,6m 25cm and 4m [Link] the
length of the longest rod that can measure the dimensions of the room exactly.
4. The traffic lights at three different road crossings change after every 48 seconds,72
seconds and 108 seconds respectively. If they change simultaneously at 7 a.m., at what
time will they change together next?
5. In a teacher’s workshop the number of teacher teaching French, Hindi and English are
48,80 and 144 respectively. Find the minimum number of rooms required if in each room
the same numbers of teachers are seated and all of them are of same subject.
6. If the zeroes of the polynomial x2+px+q are double in value to the zeroes of the
polynomial 2x2-5x-3 then find the values of p and q.
7. If the sum and product of the zeroes of the polynomial ax2-5x+c are equal to 10 each, find
the value of a and c.
8. If 𝞪 and 𝛽 are the zeroes of a polynomial 2x2-3x+1 then find the quadratic polynomial
whose zeroes are 3𝝰 and 3β
9. If a, b are the zeroes of the polynomial 2x2-5x+7 then find a polynomial whose zeroes are
2a+3b and 3a+2b.
10. If 𝞪 and 𝝱 are the zeroes of a polynomial x2+x-2 then find the value of ( 𝞪/𝝱 +𝝱/𝞪)
11. Represent the following pair of linear equations graphically and hence comment on the
condition of consistency of this pair. 𝑥 − 5𝑦 = 6 𝑎𝑛𝑑 2𝑥 − 10𝑦 = 12.
12. Determine the values of m and n so that the following system of linear equation have
infinite number of solutions: (2𝑚 − 1)𝑥 + 3𝑦 − 5 = 0 𝑎𝑛𝑑 3𝑥 + (𝑛 − 1)𝑦 − 2 = 0.
13. A part of monthly hostel charges in a college is fixed and the remaining depends on the
number of days one has taken food in the mess. When a student ‘A’ takes food for 22
days, he has to pay Rs.1380 as hostel charges. Whereas a student ‘B’ who takes food for
28 days, pays Rs.1680 as hostel charges. Find the fixed charges and the cost of food per
day.

them manage to save Rs.2000/ month. Find their monthly incomes.
15. The sum of the digits of a 2-digit number is 14. The number obtained by interchanging its
digits exceed the given number by 18. Find the number.
16. Two coins are tossed simultaneously. Find the probability of getting utmost one tail.

probability of getting neither red card nor a queen.
20. A bag contains 24 balls, of which x are red, 2x are white and 3x are blue. A ball is
selected at random. What is the probability that the ball drawn is (a) not white (b) blue
(c) white or blue.
