The line graph illustrates how much carbon dioxide was emitted by each person in four countries
over the period 40 years, starting from 1967.
Overall, there was a rise in the amount of average CO2 emissions in Italy and Portugal while a
decline was seen in that of United Kingdom and Sweden. In addition, UK had the highest
figures.
The amount of CO2 emissions per person in Sweden started at 9tonnes in 1967, after which it
increased gradually to 10tonnes in 1977. However, this figure fell moderately to 6tonnes at the
end of the decade period. Similarity, there was a steady reduce in the amount of CO2 emissions
in United Kingdom from 1977 to 2007, although the CO2 emissions per person in UK were the
highest throughout the four decades.
Nearly 2tonnes was generated by a citizen in Portugal in 1967, with a significant rise to 6tonnes
in 1997 and final stay unchanged to 2007. Similarity, the figure for Italy increased from 4tonnes
to 6 tonnes in the first 10 years. There was a continuous upward trend in the Italy’s carbon
dioxide emissions from 1977 to 1997 before ending the period at 8 tonnes.
