Is a cashless society really a good idea? Do you remember a time when you didn’t have any cash on you and the store
you were in, only (1) accepting / accepted / used coins and notes, was nowhere near a cash machine? The ability
now to pay using your card, phone or even watch, (2) worn / locating / located in your pocket or on your wrist, is
much more convenient. However, this means that people already (3) struggling / struggled / fighting to use modern
technology now need to learn how to do these things, which can be easier said than done.

There are also privacy concerns. Consumers nowadays, (4) wanting / wanted / having wanted to use their bank cards
online, are at greater risk of fraud and identity theft. Additionally, missing cards, (5) calling / reported / called as being
lost or stolen, can result in people being locked out of their accounts. Losing a bank note, in comparison, is annoying,
but it can be replaced easily, and does not prevent you from accessing your account.

Those (6) relying / followed / needing on more informal means of wealth management may prefer to keep money at
home and only use cash. This could be because they want to stay anonymous, or perhaps it is just how they are used to
doing things. Often, it is the poorer members of society, (7) trusting / not trusted / not trusting authority, who adopt
these methods. A cashless society, probably (8) not building / not designed / not thought with these people in mind,
is, therefore, not great news for everyone.
