ABSTRACT
Hospital Management System (HMS) is a comprehensive, computerized solution
developed to streamline and automate the multifaceted operations of modern
healthcare facilities. Traditional hospital workflows—ranging from patient
admission, treatment tracking, and billing to pharmacy and laboratory management—
often rely on disconnected or paper-based processes, leading to inefficiencies, delays,
and limited patient access to their own medical information. This project addresses
these challenges by designing and implementing an integrated HMS that maintains
detailed records of inpatients and outpatients, manages diagnostic and treatment
databases, and automates billing for pharmacy and laboratory services. Key modules
include ward and department administration, physician assignments, patient-illness
status tracking, and report generation. Crucially, the system incorporates a secure,
centralized repository for all patient reports, enabling authorized users and patients
themselves to retrieve diagnostic results and treatment histories from any location
worldwide. By leveraging web-based interfaces and role-based access controls, the
proposed HMS enhances operational efficiency, reduces administrative overhead, and
empowers patients with real-time visibility into their medical data. Expected
outcomes include accelerated report delivery, improved coordination among
healthcare providers, and elevated patient satisfaction through transparent, on-
demand information access.
