2. Contain the Spill:
o Use absorbent materials (e.g., sand, spill pads, or absorbent socks) to stop the
spread.
o Block drains to prevent the spill from reaching water systems.
Step 3: Clean Up the Spill
1. Small Spills (Non-Hazardous):
o Use absorbent pads, sand, or rags to soak up the spill.
o Sweep up any remaining material and put it in a trash bag or designated container.
2. Small Spills (Hazardous):
o Use special absorbents for hazardous chemicals (check SDS for recommendations).
o Put contaminated materials in a labeled hazardous waste container.
3. Large Spills:
o Call for Help: For large spills, call the site supervisor and emergency services.
o Evacuate: If the spill is dangerous (e.g., large chemical or flammable spill), evacuate
the area.
Step 4: Dispose of Waste Properly
1. Hazardous Waste:
o Place used rags, absorbent materials, or any contaminated items in a labeled
hazardous waste container.
o Do NOT throw hazardous waste in regular trash.
2. Non-Hazardous Waste:

bin.
