Engagement and Political Participation.

Social media is becoming a more popular internet platform due to the rising of Social Network

Sites (SNS) such as Myspace. So with the rising of such social media sites, the questions that

arises are do these help us to be more informed, find common causes or participate in public

more often, or is it that it fosters shallower relationships and distracts people from public

affairs. This study the effect of informational motivations for using any type of SNS and focus

on information about public affairs that is communicated through online network sites, such as

when individuals learn about opportunities for community work, discuss information about hot

political issues, and share links to stories on social media.1 Also, this study goes into the effects

on social capital and participation of individuals' political predispositions and communication

behaviours. In addition to these political antecedents, media use and informal discussion

networks are found to be related to the production of social capital, and to individuals'

participation in civic and political causes2. Individuals with larger networks participate more

because they are more likely to be exposed to people who have higher levels of education.

These educated individuals provide knowledge and expertise that engages citizen. This paper

relies on an original survey data collected in the U.S. between December 15, 2008, and January

5, 2009. The survey instrument was administered using Qualtrics, a web survey software, and

was pilot-tested before actual fieldwork. Four variables are explored, which are social capital,

civic participation, offline political participation and online political participation. This

analysis also includes the following variables such as social-demographic variables, news

media use, general SNS use, online network size, political knowledge, and internal political

efficacy. The hypotheses were tested using four sets of hierarchical OLS regressions, one for

each dependent variable. After getting the results, it is supported that the hypothesis predicted

that SNS use for news surveillance would significantly increase social capital is true. It is also

proven that the important role of SNS use for news in predicting civic participation. Both

and political action.3

Disadvantages Of Sarahah Apps

The disadvantages of sarahah apps is your age, because there are currently no age restrictions

published in the terms of services of the messaging app. However, the iTunes app store

recommends user should be 17 years old to download the app. The worse is things about

sarahah is that you can’t replay to anyone. Anyone can search you and start bullying you and

then all you can do is just get humiliated. You cannot keep a check on who is saying what about

you. And the worse is like other apps, it doesn’t even offer calling option. The last is you will

hurt by the comment to you because some people will say a good but there a some people write

the comment is not good and cannot detect who the people write the comment, I could be your

best friends or your siblings, that’s why sarahah is the most complicated for who used it. 5

acting out comedy sketches, with a database of music, effects and sound bites from which to

Reddit is an entertainment and news website where users can share content. The site displays

a long list of posts, which can include links to articles elsewhere on the web or posts in the

form of texts.20 The site is divided into subreddits, with each user choosing which subreddits

they would like to subscribe to according to interest.21 These include general political threads

for individual countries, a music subreddit where links to music may be shared or more

as the posts themselves, and can become extended discussion forums for issues highlighted

within the link or for more peripheral issues.23

WeChat are the instant messaging application from Guangzhou Research Center in early 2011

In this era of technological and information revival, there are many social media created to

facilitate the daily lives of people regardless age, religion, race and nation. This includes the

creation of social media such as Tumblr. After nearly ten years Tumblr is one of the main social

networking systems available. And with over 300 million blogs and over 550 million people

visiting the site each month, it would seem that Tumblr would be great place to advertise your

business, be it online or a brick and mortar shop. But what are the advantages and disadvantages

of using this Tumblr? Let’s elaborate on the effect in the next paragraph.30

Social networking tool is one of the advantages of using Tumblr is that unlike many sites used

for blogs, WordPress, and the like. This means that as you gain followers, other people can be

exposed to your advertisement. This means with little work on your side you add can travel

much further on “word of mouth”.31 In addition, the options Tumblr has to integrate SEO

options. SEO is stands for “Search Engine Optimization” which is the process of getting traffic

from the “free”,” organic”, “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. This allows

you to track using Google Analytics, or other options to see when someone click on your

Tumblr ads. Then, the great advantages of using this social media is that is simple to use and

setup. You do not have to be great coder to get something fitting setup. However, if you do

know what you are doing you can customize it even more to get a more unique page customized

to your business. 32

Every use of social media comes with the disadvantages of its use, as well as Tumblr. One of

the disadvantages of using Tumblr is age restriction. Some of the risk of using Tumblr to

promote your blog involves that fact that you may on occasion come across inappropriate

content. Tumblr allows user to post adult content and this may make creating a safe

environment for expressing ideas to all ages an inadequate option. The lack of reporting feature

on Tumblr makes it more difficult for users to report content deemed illegal or abusive. Users

must email support with concern about specific blogs and users. Next, Domain-Based Hosting.

Tumblr requires you to use the Tumblr platform and servers to host your blog. 33 WordPress,

Blogger and other platforms provide options for hosting a blog using the software on your own

website, allowing greater control over the up-time and content uploaded to the blog and saved

within backup archives. On a domain-based blog, you can keep all the images and content on

your own server without needing to rely upon Tumblr to host your content. The ability to host

your own blog would provide users with more privacy as well. This feature can sometimes be

abused, especially by people who have a large number of followers or tend to their own

work/opinions. It can even lead to cyber-bullying. You do have the option to turn this feature

off, so if you start to receive anonymous messages that you don’t like, you don’t have to

respond or read them.34

Facebook article

Facebook a 19 year old Mark Zuckerberg launch a site at Harvard sophomore on February 4,

2004 called the [Link] it was an instant famous app which we see now day as a social

media app.35 The site has become one of the biggest web sites in the world, visited by

1.74billion people a month which are taken from 2017 research. The main feature of Facebook

is advertising and promote your own business by creating a page for your product or service

Lastly is that create a username that are easy to remember and unique from other.36 The second

feature are the Facebook Live, where you can stream live videos the benefit is that it provides

unique of its own kind in the video. The second benefit are it easier because we don’t need to

learn video editing and illustration.37 The last are can better connect with the audience. The

third feature are news feed which is the place where we often see new information, global

news, entertainment and article.38

We can access to global info within our phone within a second which is the most useful feature

in Facebook. The way that news feed work is that it has a score system which calculate which

type of things that you consume often so that it will predict the next news feed.39 The bad side

of Facebook are when we spend a lot time on social media, we will be less interacting with

our nearby people which make our relationship worse. Other effects of Facebook are that using

Facebook make us loss sleep which come from the addiction to the Facebook.40 Why we so

addicted to Facebook are because of every time we see Facebook our brain release dopamine

because we see the notification that reward us with like, comment and praise. Dopamine is a

chemical in our brain that give us pleasure from food, drug, and sex usually. In theory

dopamine sound nice but it also responsible for so many self-destructive behaviors. 41 Next bad

side of Facebook are there are fake news problem which mostly occur when someone that

doesn't do some research on the news and just help share the post and make other confuse and

panic. The forth bad benefit of Facebook is that we are obsess with refreshing Facebook news

feed because the news feed is made to be like a lottery machine that keep us scroll the news

feed which use our natural curiosity of fear of missing out interesting things of our friend

share. We check our friend message even when we drive car to not miss out interesting things
