Sizing Part-1

Sizing or size is a substance that is applied to, or incorporated into, other materials—
especially papers and tex les—to act as a protec ve filler or glaze. Sizing is used in
papermaking and tex le manufacturing to change the absorp on and wear characteris cs
of those materials.

Sizing is used for oil-based surface prepara on for gilding (some mes called mordant in this
context). It is used by painters and ar sts to prepare paper and tex le surfaces for some art
techniques. Sizing is used in photography to increase the sharpness of a print, to change the
glossiness of a print, or for other purposes depending on the type of paper and prin ng
technique.

Fibers used in composite material are treated with various sizing agents to promote
adhesion with the matrix material.

Descrip on Texosize is a modified slurry based corn starch for sizing of tex le warp yarn,
designed to meet requirements of high speed sophis cated weaving. This product offers
uniform viscosity , high adhesiveness and adequate penetra on to fiber . Texosize provides
excellent film forma on and enhance weaving efficiency. This product prevents the warp
yarn breakage due to abrasion of the neighboring yarns . Texosize ia an ideal slurry based
modified starch for sizing applica on of co on, co on blended fiber polyester fiber , Denim
applica on . this product is suitable for both coarser and finer count . Texosize can be used
with Binder 3- 6 % and so ener 2-4 % depending on end use .
