Safe water is essential for sustainable development of communities.
Improving access to safe drinking water in rural communities will improve
community health and in doing so opportunities for sustainable livelihoods
can be enhanced, this can reduce poverty and encourage economic
development. This is why adoption of WSP are badly needed to the water
system, it also helps to identify, prioritizes and manage risks that could
threaten water supplies.
Water safety plans are considered by the WHO as the most effective
means of maintaining a safe supply of drinking water to the public. Their
use should ensure that water is safe for all forms of human consumption
and that it meets regulatory water standards relating to human health.
A water safety plan is a comprehensive document that outlines the
measures a company or organization takes to ensure the safety of its
water supply. This can include measures to prevent contamination, as
well as strategies for responding to water-related emergencies.
