Internship Rules and Regulations:-
1) Every Student is required to complete minimum 20 weeks of Internship within 5 Years
of their course.
2) Provided that internship in any year cannot be for a continuous period of more than Four
Weeks and all students shall at least have gone through once in the entire academic
period with Trial and Appellate Advocates. .
3) Every student has to submit the Internship diary to their respective mentors as soon as
they return from the academic break in summers and winters in the format provided by
the university.
4) Students may Intern at any:-
NGO, Trial and Appellate Advocates, Judiciary, Legal Regulatory authorities,
Legislatures and Parliament, Other Legal Functionaries, Market Institutions, Law Firms,
Companies, Local Self Government and other such bodies as the University shall
stipulate, where law is practiced either in action or in dispute resolution or in
management
At least one internship with a trial Advocate (District/Sessions Court) and one
Internship with an Appellate Advocate (High Court or Supreme Court) is
compulsory within the entire academic period of 5 years
5) Total mark of all the internships shall be assessed in the Final Semester of the course in
the 4th Clinical course titled “Moot Court Exercise and Internship”. Students should
maintain one copy of all the Internship Diaries and certificates with themselves for
evaluation in the final semester of the course.
6) Students shall be required to attend two trials (One Criminal and One Civil) in the
course of the last two or three years of their course. They will maintain a record and enter
the various steps observed during their attendance on different days in the court
assignment. These steps are to be mentioned in Part A of the internship diary.
7) Each student will observe two interviewing sessions of clients at the Lawyer’s
Office/Legal Aid Office and record the proceedings in a diary. Each student will further
observe the preparation of documents and court papers by the Advocate and the
procedure for the filing of the suit/petition. This information is to be recorded in the
Part B daily internship diary as well.
8) The format for Observance of Trial (Part A) and Internship Diary (Part B) are attached
below. Every student has to mandatorily attach the certificate of Internship.

I. Brief About the Organization
Advocate Hansraj Ji Purohit is a seasoned legal practitioner handling both civil and criminal
matters at [Court Name]. His practice is rooted in delivering ethical, accessible, and effective
legal services. I chose to intern with him to gain practical trial experience aligned with my goal
of joining the judiciary.
II. Nature & Duration of Internship
My role at Advocate Hansraj Ji Purohit’s chamber was to assist in daily court proceedings,
case file management, and legal drafting. I worked directly with the advocate and his clerks,
observing civil and criminal trials, preparing case briefs, and researching relevant case laws. The
duration of the internship was from 1st June 2022 to 30th June 2022.
III. Learnings during the Internship
During my internship experience with Advocate Hansraj Ji Purohit, I was able to develop my
understanding of procedural law and practical courtroom conduct. I particularly found observing
live arguments and cross-examinations to be useful in improving my legal reasoning and
application skills. Although I found drafting legal notices and bail applications to be challenging
at first, I found it valuable in developing my legal writing and case analysis abilities.
IV. Learning Outcomes
While I had many useful experiences at Advocate Hansraj Ji Purohit’s chamber, I feel that I
still need to develop my confidence levels with oral pleadings and court interaction. I would
have enjoyed more time completing independent legal drafting tasks such as framing issues
or preparing written statements. The internship has reinforced my interest in litigation and will
be highly beneficial in pursuing my goal of joining the judicial services.
