45. There is a lot of debate in society about the greenhouse effect. Explain what the
greenhouse effect is, what gases are involved, and the positive and negative effects
of the greenhouse effect. (Communication - 5 marks)
The greenhouse effect is the process in which the sun releases heat
waves to the earth and during the nighttime the heat is released from the
earth into the air but some of that heat is still trapped because of other
polluted gases like CO2 emissions trap the heat into the earth. This can
be catastrophic for the earth and worsens climate change and global
warming. Although this may have some benefit's such as better
ecosystem in some regions for some organisms. But the negative effects
are more drastic in comparison as this can cause floods, tundra's and
global/ climate disasters in other areas.

46. A convex lens has a focus length of 6 cm, and there is an object that is 12 cm from
the lens. The object has a height of 4 cm. Use the lens and magnification equations
to determine the location and size of the image. Show all your work. (T/I - 4 marks)
f=6cm (f>0)
do=12cm
ho=4cm
1/f=1/do+1/di
Image is located 12 cm from the lens
Image height is 4cm (inverted)
1/6=1/12+1/di
1/di=1/6-1/12
1/di=2/12-1/12
1/di=1/12
di=12cm
M= -di/do=hi/ho
M= -12/12=-1
hi= M x ho
hi=-1x4cm
hi=-4cm
The image is inverted
47. Explain why a cell must make a complete copy of its genetic information before it
can start the process of mitosis. (Communication - 5 marks)
This is because the genetics need a consistency and no errors or mess ups,
for instance the cells need proper assurance that it's functioning well. It is
also important to prevent cell mutation and cell disease or death. Mitosis
allows organisms to grow and repair tissues. Each new cell produced must
have a full set of DNA to function correctly. Proper DNA replication ensures
that new cells are ready to contribute to the organism’s health and growth.

solutions can reduce waste and support renewable energy.
Climate Engineering: Chemical methods for geoengineering will beat climate
change.
Environmental Monitoring: Improved chemical sensors will enhance pollution
detection and response.
