1. (a). The table below shows age distribution of learners at Topremang Salvation Army School JHS 3.

(ii) Calculate the mean age for the distribution.
(b) Akroboto spent one-third of his pocket money on breakfast and one-sixth of what remained on
sweets. If he still had sixty-six Ghana cedis left, find how much he spent on breakfast.
2. (a) The average mass of a twins is 45 kg. The difference between their mass is 15kg.
Find the mass for each of them.
(b) Mr. Amoah’s table is (11 – 𝑦) meters wide and (2𝑦 + 5) meters long. Find:
(i) the area of the table in terms of y.
(ii) the actual perimeter of the table, when 𝑦 = 8.
3. (a) Three tower lights blink at intervals of 30 minutes, 40 minutes and 45 minutes respectively.
If all three blink together at 10:45 am, when next, will all three blink together again?
(b) The base of an isosceles triangle is 2 cm longer than each of the two equal sides.
Given that the base is (𝑦 + 5) 𝑐𝑚 and the perimeter is 38 cm, find:
i) an expression for its perimeter.
ii) the ratio of the sum of the equal lengths to the base.

4. (a) Given the relation 5𝑥 − 3𝑦 + 27 = 0, find:
(i) the gradient.
(ii) the x-intercept.
(iii) the y-intercept.
(b) The graph below shows the journey made by a cyclist from Beposo to Assin Foso. He made his
first stop at Yamoransa for a rest, then he continued to Assin Foso to have a business discussion. He
returned to Beposo on his bike immediately after the business discussion.

5. (a) Draw a table of values for the relations 𝑥 + 𝑦 = 6 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑥 − 𝑦 = −4 .
Use x values as – 3, –2, –1, 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, 6.
(b) Using an appropriate scale, draw the 𝑜𝑥 and 𝑜𝑦 axes on a graph sheet.
(c) Plot the points for 𝑥 + 𝑦 = 6 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑥 − 𝑦 = −4 on the same graph sheet. Join the points to form
two straight lines.
(d) Using your graph, find the solution set of 𝑥 + 𝑦 = 6 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑥 − 𝑦 = −4
(e) Measure the angle formed between 𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑦 = 6 + 𝑥 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑦 = 0.
6. (a) Simplify 𝑛(12𝑚 – 3) – (𝑚 – 𝑛) (3 + 𝑛).

He used the rest of the land for fish farming.

(ii) If Mr. Adusei used 30 less acres of land to cultivate coconut than papaya,
find the value of 𝑦.
