The meeting was called to order at 8:50 am through payers said by Apostle
Ugwuzor Ogbonna.
INTRODUCTION: The Government functionaries as listed above led by the
Mayor were introduced after which the officers of the community were also
introduced.
THE MAYOR’S ADDRESS: In his address, the Mayor of Ukwa West Local
Government, Chief Newman Azu welcomed and thanked the people of
Umuorie for their massive turn-out to receive him and his entourage.
He told the house that despite the reception of the President, Ahmed Tinubu
who was visiting Abia State on an official assignment of the commissioner of
the Geometric Power Plant of which we was supposed to be in attendance, he is
in Umuorie on a very important assignment which according to him, he was
duty bound to do as the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government Area to
ensure the security of lives and properties within the L.G.A.
The Chairman decided to visit Umuorie following the report he received,
concerning the disagreement/misunderstanding relating to the election of the
Umuorie Youth body.
He expressed disappointment over the level of disregard by the Eleco Chairman,
who on several occasion refused to take his calls and had made himself Lord on
the matter of the Youth Election. It was on this ground that he went to Umuahia
to seek for the advice of his boss, the Executive Governor of the state, Dr. Alex
Chioma Oti OFR who graciously directed the commissioner for Youth and
Sport to ensure that the election holds under a free, transparent and fair
atmosphere come Saturday 2nd March, 2024.
On this note, the Mayor by the powers conferred in his dissolved the Electoral
committee headed by Pastor Reginald Nwaokporo and called for nominations
for the constitution of a new electoral committee to conduct the Youth Election.
NOMINATIONS:
ELECO CHAIRMAN: Mr. Dike Ugochukwu Samuel and Mr. Precious
Ehisianya were nominated, and by raising of hands, Mr. Dike Ugochukwu
Samuel Emerged the Chairman of the Eleco by polling a total vote of 71 against
Mr. Ehisianya who had 10 votes only.
For the position of the secretary, Mr. Precious Ehisianya was returned
unopposed. While Pastor Godson Enwereuzor and Chief Elder Moses Enyioko
were unanimously nominated to represent Amala and to supervise the electoral
process. Finally, Mr. Godswill Nwarie was nominated to represent the
Executive committee of the Town Union.
Hence the following persons were elected and sworn-in by the Labour Party
Chairman at the instance of the Mayor, Ukwa West Local Government Area.

PAYMENT OF TENAMENT FEE TO UMUORIE ISIMIRI COMMUNITY.
During the monthly general meeting of the Umuorie Town union held on Thursday 15 th
February, 2024 at the Community Civic Centre, the issue of the debts owed the community
by the companies operating within the area was extensively discussed of which you are one.
It was noted that your company is owing the community, tenament fee of almost Five (5)
years and the payment is obviously long overdue, consequently the Town Union unanimously
resolved and mandated the executive to write to you demanding for the payment within 21
days of the receipt of this letter.
You will agree with us that Umuorie Isimiri is, and has remained the most peaceful,
friendly and accommodating of all your host communities, hence, we implore you to oblige
this request to ensure that we maintain the harmonious relationship that had existed between
your company and Isimiri community.
