IMPORTANT COMMUNICATION TO STUDENTS
The Academic Division welcomes all students and staff to the academic year 2025-26. The Division wishes
to share the following important reminders as the academic year commences:
1. We welcome the new cohort who started their academic journey on 1st April 2025. We thank you for
choosing Strathmore; we hope that together with your parents/ guardians we will weave your personal
and career dreams at Strathmore University (SU). Karibuni Strathmore!
2. Students are required to close formal registration of courses by 9th May 2025. Those adding names after
close of registration on the class registers will have their attendance voided.
3. Students wishing to take retakes and special exams are required to have proper registration done as per
the directives by school administration.
4. If fees payment is the cause of registration delays, kindly see your School Manager on the matter to
facilitate registration. Attendance of class without due registration is a punishable offence and any
attendance will be voided for that course.
5. All classes for first year students are conducted face to face. Classes for the second to fourth year
students are through the blended mode of learning. Attendance to both virtual and in-person classes is
mandatory. In-person classes should not be converted to virtual classes unless approved by the school
management. All students should ensure they have their Microsoft Teams suite accounts activated for
the virtual lessons.
6. Strathmore places emphasis on co-curricular activities and encourages students to participate in clubs,
sports and societies every Friday from 2.15 p.m. - 5.15 p.m. Kindly note no classes or course
assessments should be organised during this time.
2025 New Plans
1. The Division has been exploring an automated mechanism to capture class attendance and reduce
students’ back and forth with schools at the end of every semester. Automating the attendance
registers will allow students to know in real time whether they are on track for eligibility to sit
examinations. In the current manual registers, this update is sometimes done late and leaves the
student without room to recover. A bio-metric attendance will be piloted with several classes to check
on its effectiveness before full implementation. Students will be required to sign on physical registers as
we pilot the biometric solution. Students are encouraged to give the pilot all the support and their
suggestions to improve their experience.
2. The Academic Division wishes to thank the 837 students who took part in the continuing students
survey in 2024. Thank you for giving SU positive comments on several areas. The division through its
departments is placing mechanisms to address the areas of concern indicated in the survey. Key areas
indicated- Internet and Wifi, laptop services, timetable, extra facilities and general administrative
efficiency at school level. Kindly share your feedback of improvement as this is in line with SU efforts for
continuous improvement.
3. Academic Division in consultation with class representatives, adjusted examinations start time rules
from 1st March 2025 as shown in the table below. These changes affect start times for examinations
which aims to enhance the credibility and validity of the University examinations. The times indicated as
seated time should not be taken as arrival time. Students are encouraged to arrive earlier to allow for
usual clearance before examinations begin. The changes affect supervised CATs too.
