EMC
Subdivided by EMI and EMS
EMI, Electromagnetic Interference (Emission)
EMS, Electromagnetic Susceptibility (Immunity)
EMI will concern of Equipment Under Test (EUT) emission out to the
environment
EMS will concern of EUT ability to function in an EMC environment.

EMC REGULATORY
North American :
FCC (Federal Communication comission, US), MIL-STD
DOC (Department of Communication, Canada)
World Wide :
IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)
ISO
Japan : VCCI, Korea : KS
European Union :
IEC, BS EN and CISPR (International Special Committee on Radio
Interference)
Indonesia ;
SNI (Standar Nasional Indonesia)
4
SAFETY REQUIREMENT
Different country adopts to different EMC standard
US, FCC is more stringent for EMI Radiation
Europe, EN is more concern on EMS Immunity
IEC is an International Body for Electro-technical product that
recommend the testing to be conducted. It is up to individual
country to adopt to the standard.
Europe, USA, Russia, China, Korea, Australia and New Zealand
have adopted laws to safe guard EMC while other countries like
Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia do not have any
requirement (mandatory) for EMC testing. However, for special
circumstances it via government regulation.
