GENERAL WORK SEQUENCE AND PROCEDURE

Client provided engineering drawings and documentation must be carefully analyzed to

determine service conditions, material specs, dimensions, wall thickness, and non-destructive
testing requirements.

• All documents referenced or attached to this method statement shall be treated as

essential components and must be reviewed together with this document.

• Confirm all received documentation carries the "Issued for Construction" stamp and
represents the most current revision.

• Verify that all required piping system components are properly cataloged and
clearly labeled according to material specifications before beginning procurement.

• Develop complete procurement packages (including technical specifications, initial

drawings, quality standards, etc.) and distribute both printed and digital copies to all
relevant departments.

• Ensure all quality control checks and pre-construction requirements, approvals, and
preparations are completed with adequate lead time to maintain the construction
schedule.

• The EZAR primary facility will serve as the storage and distribution center for all
prefabricated piping components and fittings.

• Guarantee all piping system elements are properly assembled and clearly identified
prior to transportation to the SOO worksite.

• Upon arrival at site, all components must undergo joint verification with the Client
and be stored according to established protocols before beginning installation.

3.1. Workshop activities:

3.1.1. Cutting and Beveling

 Proceed with cutting of pipes, edge preparation, joint alignment, and fit ups as per WPS.

 Select the proper cut method either flame cut or cut machine.

April 29, 2025 Document Ref.: BDM01-PR- 25-12 Page 5 of 9

 The edge cleaning and beveling shall be done using abrasive grinding disc/ beveling
machines.

 Line Number, Spool Numbers, and Joint Numbers are to be clearly identified and marked
on the spools with the welder identification for each joint.

3.1.2. Fit – Up and Tack Welding

 Fit-up assembly shall be carried out by using locally prepared couplers. All the required
pipe holding work benches, assembling brackets, U’ bolts etc. would be made in house to
suit the pipe sizes.

 For butt welds, a uniform root opening as specified below shall be maintained as per
Client recommendations.

 For all socket weld joints the pipe end shall be free from cutting burs. A clearance of 1.6
mm shall be provided between the end of pipe and bottom of the socket.

 Internal misalignment shall be limited as per recommendations.

 The pipes shall be tack welded in three equidistant positions. Tack Weld shall be done as
per the approved WPS by a qualified welder.

3.1.3. Welding
 All welding activity for piping prefabrication/fabrication shall be incompliance with the
American National Standard for Chemical Plant and Petroleum Refinery Piping, ASME B31.3.
EZAR will in a written way notify the COMPANY of any exceptions or deviations, which must
be documented on the P&ID, Piping Drawings, and project Specifications. Furthermore,
these exceptions/deviations are subject to company approval, additionally the following
shall be considered.
April 29, 2025 Document Ref.: BDM01-PR- 25-12 Page 6 of 9
 The welding machine will be CERTIFIED and in good condition.
 EZAR shall provide maintenance, inspection & calibration reports to the company, the welding
machines are essential to ensure proper functioning and consistency in weld quality.
 Welding procedures and Welders/Welding operators shall be qualified in accordance with
Welding Procedure for Piping and Welder Qualification Test.
 The design of weld joint, welding bevel and reinforcement, will be in accordance with ASME
B31.3.

 All necessary welder examination documents WPS/PQR procedures are to be handed over to
SOO for approval before starting the welding activity.
 Cutting of piping is only allowed by using cutting disc, or special cutting and beveling tools
approved by Company.
 The ends of piping components to be joined by welding shall be aligned as accurately as
practicable within the tolerances of diameter, wall thickness, etc.
 Adjusting flanges offset not permitted by tack welding or heat input to straight position.

 For general pipe fitting external clamps are to be used, tack weld on pipes is not
permitted. In special cases alternative solutions are to be discussed with SOO
supervisory.
 Preheating of material to be welded at ambient temperature less than 10℃ is required.
 ASME B31.3- process piping guide, shows how to calculate the preheat temperature for
welding. However, preheat for piping wall thickness greater than 20mm is to be executed in
a temperature range 150-200oC as per SOO engineering/construction department advice.
 The minimum distance between welds is 50mm.
 The inside of each fabricated pipe spools shall be thoroughly cleaned of all welding
spatter or icicles, sand, scale, or other foreign debris.

 Heat numbers shall be transferred onto spools and onto spool drawings.
 ASME B31.3- process piping guide, shows how to calculate the preheat temperature for
welding. However, preheat for piping wall thickness greater than 20mm is to be executed in
a temperature range 150-200oC as per SOO engineering/construction department advice.
 Welded joints including welding defects more than 30% of pipe
circumferential length are to be cut off and rewarded.

3.1.4. Examination and inspection

 The purpose of these examinations is to ensure that the examiner and the Inspector
have reasonable confidence that the requirements of ASME B31.3 and the
engineering design have been satisfied.

 Any expenses related to rectifying/ repairing defective or rejected work, as well as

 any subsequent heat treatment and additional examination costs, are the
responsibility of the EZAR company.

3.1.5. Protective painting:

 The compressed air supply used for blasting shall be free from water and oil.
Adequate separators and traps shall be provided, and these shall be kept

from the air receiver by regular purging.
 Hand-tool cleaning shall not be applied to replace specified blast cleaning, it
shall be used only when blast cleaning is prohibited or impossible.
 The coating applicators shall be qualified to undertake the coating application
procedure and repair work. The applicator shall request the manufacturer of coating
material(s) and equipment to provide technical assistance to the coating operatives if
necessary.
 EZAR will possess all the necessary equipment and procedures to execute successful
