W 1 - PREPARATION
The circuit breaker power and auxi-
liaries circuits must be switched off.
Manually carry out an O.C.O. cycle.
The operating device springs are di-
scharged (spring discharged).
(Fig. 1)

W 2 - IDENTIFICATION
2.1 Circuit breaker identification
FP circuit breakers are identified by
an identification plete (Fig. 2,3 or 4).

2.2 Pole identification

Poles are identified by a technical
reference either :
- marked on a label
- or engraved on the pole base
(Fig. 5).
Each pole has its own referen-
ce, and the replacement pole
must have the same technical
reference as the replaced pole.

A distinction is made between two

types of poles (Fig. 6) :
- the driving pole linked to the ope-
rating device,
- the driven pole driven by the dri-
ving pole.

2.3 Supply for replacing a pole

See adjustement form 470133 sup-
plied with the pole.

2.4 Preliminary operations

If there are barriers on the mobile
parts, remove them (Fig. 7).

IMPORTANT :
The insulating bolts must ne-
ver be replaced by metal bolts.

W 3 - DISASSEMBLING OF
ACCESSORIES

3.1 Various cases depending on

the pole (Fig. 8,9, 10 or 11)
The connection accessories shall be
kept for reassembling on the new
pole.
3.2 Disassembling of connectors
1 - Record connector positioning di-
mensions :
- between phases (Fig. 12)
- between terminals (Fig. 13)

2 - Disconnet the top connector

Two cases according to the pole :

Case 1 : Fig. 14and 15

- disassemble screws ;
- remove the 6-35 elastic support
pin and the connector positioning
pin.
Case 2 : Fig. 16
- remove the three bolts.

3 - Remove the lower connector ac-

cording to the pole (Fig. 17 or 18).

7 - In the case of a type 1 coupling,
remove the two bolts mark 3 and pin
mark 5 (Fig. 19), and remove the
drive lever (Fig. 25, 26 and 27).

4.2 For a driven pole

Perform operations 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 in
section 4.1

B 5 - REASSEMBLING OF
THE POLE
5.1 Essential checks before reas-
sembling
1 - The next pole must have the sa-
me technical reference.
2 - Check its general condition.
3 - Measure the nominal pole pres-
sure.
This is stated on the circuit breaker
identification plate. Top up if neces-
sary (see instructions on pressure
adjustement procedure NM 4160).
Example : case of a pole delivered
at 0,5 bars by air freight.

5.2 Reassembly
5.2.1 Case of coupling type 1 |

- Use news parts supplied with

the replacement pole.
- Identify these parts with res-
pect to the parts in the original
pole, and only use clearly iden-
tified parts in each location.
- Degrease pins marked 4 and
5, and the nuts fixing each of
these pins, with Balthane or
Trichloréthyléne.

1 - Reposition the drive lever (for

the driving pole).
- Apply a film of loctite R 262 on all

ginal adjustement washers (Fig. 30).

4 - Pretighten the nuts under the fra-

me (Fig. 31).

5 - Repeat the operations in section

3.2 in reverse order, the dimensions
between phase and layers must be
the same as on disassembly.
Otherwise check that washers are
present in the attachment.

IMPORTANT :
Do not forget to replace the
connector positioning pin (Fig.
15).
Check the depth alignment of
the pole, using the other two
poles as reference (Fig. 32).

6 - Align the connectors if necessary

(Fig. 33).
7 - Working diagonally, gradually
tighten the four pole attachment
nuts under the frame (Fig. 34)

For case 1 (Fig. 14 and 15 din sec-
tion 3.2) :
- Drill a 6H11 hole through the
connector hole, maximum depth 40

SF6 CIRCUIT BREAKER

PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

Deoc. 332/25

GEC ALSTHOM
W 7 - DELIVERY

FP circuit breakers, or poles sold

separately, are delivered at nominal
pressure. However under special
conditions, they may be delivered at
a reduced pressure.
In this special case, a label is pla-
ced on the circuit breaker or the po-
le, and the circuit breaker or pole
must be pressurized to its nominal
pressure as stated on the circuit
breaker information plate.

m2 - EQUIPMENT NECESSARY
FOR THE POLE PRESSURE
ADJUSTMENT

The following equipment is neces-

sary to adjust the pressure in an FP
cirucuit breaker pole,
- 1 SF6 gas cylinder SF6 (fig 1),
- 1 pressure reducer, preferably gra-
duated from 0 to 6 bars (fig 2),
- 1pressure tester, equipped with its
straight or elbow connection (fig 3).

— m 3 - DETERMINATION OF
THE FINAL ADJUSTMENT
PRESSURE

The pole must be filled to the nomi-

nal pressure stated on the circuit
breaker information plate.

W 4 - PREPARATION
Mount the pressure reducer on an
SF6 gas cylinder.
1) Put the cylinder in the vertical po-
sition
2) Remove the top from the SF6
gas cylinder, if necessary
3) Remove the cylinder plug with a
30 mm spanner (left hand thread)
(fig 4)
4) Mount the pressure reducer on
the cylinder (not too tihgt) (fig 5).
o 882 /26
W 5 - PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT
AND CHECK

1)ldentify the valve, which depen-

ding on the model may be on the
center line of the pole control shaft
(fig 6A) or on the bottom pole plate
under the frame (fig 6B).

2) Open the SF6 gas cylinder by tur-

ning the upper valve (fig 7) to drive
out the air contained in the pipe,
and then close the valve.

3) Manually remove the valve plug.

Do not use tools.

; 4) Offer up and fix the flexible end of

the pressure reducer on the pole
(insert the elbow connector if neces-
sary) (fig8).

5)Open the SF6 gas cylinder by tur-

ning the upper valve to the left.
Adjust the pressure by adjusting the
lower screw on the pressure redu-
cer under the dial (fig 9). The pole
filles with SF6 gas.

6) Close the cylinder (by turning the

upper valve to the right) when the
pressure reducer dial indicates the
required adjustment pressure.

7) Remove the manometer from the

pole filling valve, and replace it with
) the pressure tester (fig 10).

8) Use the tester to check that the

pressure is equal to the required
pressure (fig 11) ; correct if neces-
sary by repeating the above opera-
tions (3 to 6). Remove the tester.

9) Close and firmly hand tigh-

ten the pole valve plug.
