On the first day of my work immersion at Balai Adelina, I was
warmly welcomed by the staff, who graciously guided me on a
comprehensive tour of the facility. During this tour, I learned
about various areas that required attention and cleaning,
providing me with valuable insights into the daily operations of
the establishment.
After the tour, a staff member assisted me in getting settled at
my designated station, where I began my cleaning tasks. To my
delight, she also offered me a delicious snack and lunch, which
added a personal touch to my experience.
In the afternoon, I had the privilege of meeting the head chef,
Ma'am Marissa, in the kitchen. Her guidance and expertise were
inspiring, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn from her.
Following our introduction, we continued with our cleaning
duties, reinforcing the importance of maintaining a tidy and

a sense of community.

restaurant alongside my friend Noel. Upon arriving at our
station, we promptly set to work, meticulously cleaning our area
to ensure it was ready for service. After completing our tasks, we
were treated to snacks and given a brief respite to recharge.
As evening approached, the restaurant began to fill with eager
patrons. The staff guided us in taking orders and provided
valuable lessons on properly handling a serving tray. This
hands-on experience not only honed my skills but also deepened
my appreciation for the fast-paced environment of the
restaurant.

my efforts. After our shift, the staff treated us to a lovely dinner,

reflecting on the journey as it marked my final day stationed at
the restaurant. The day unfolded with a familiar routine, as I
began by cleaning the dining area, ensuring that every surface
sparkled and was welcoming for the guests.
As the day progressed, I transitioned into my role of serving
orders to customers. Today, I also had the opportunity to take
some orders myself, allowing me to engage more directly with
the patrons and enhance my customer service skills. This hands-
on experience not only solidified my understanding of the
restaurant operations but also deepened my appreciation for the
teamwork involved in creating a pleasant dining experience.

different aspect of the establishment. Upon my arrival, I took
the initiative to ask my co-trainee about the various tasks
involved and the specific areas that required attention.
The staff were incredibly supportive, guiding me through the
process of operating the coffee machines. I had the exhilarating
experience of brewing my very own coffee, which deepened my
understanding of the craft. I also learned the proper techniques
for using the machines effectively, gaining valuable skills that
would serve me well in the future.
As evening fell, I embraced the bustling atmosphere by taking
orders and serving them to our customers. This opportunity

the coffee shop, aware that it was my final day in this

immediately began my tasks by cleaning the area and
preparing coffee for the staff, as they had requested
the day before.
As evening approached, I assisted in taking orders
and serving customers, which allowed me to further
engage with the patrons and enhance my customer
service skills. Additionally, I contributed to the team

myself stationed at the front office. The day began
with a focus on tidiness, as my co-trainee and I
worked together to clean the rooms and fold blankets
neatly, ensuring everything was in order for our
guests.
Since much of the cleaning had already been
completed the day prior, our tasks were relatively
light. After finishing our duties, the staff graciously
treated us to snacks and lunch, which provided a
welcome break.
In the afternoon, we assisted with handling the
luggage of guests checking out, which allowed us to

myself stationed at the front office for the final time.
Upon arriving at my station, I quickly got to work, as
I was a bit late. I began by sweeping the floor to
ensure it was clean and presentable, followed by
mopping to give it a fresh shine.
Once the floor was spotless, I moved on to assist my
co-trainee in folding bed sheets and blankets,
ensuring everything was neatly arranged and ready
for the next guests. After we completed our tasks, the
staff generously provided us with snacks and allowed
us to take a well-deserved break, as there were no

daunting.
Determined to make a good impression, I
immediately began cleaning the kitchen to ensure it
was spotless. Fortunately, the other cooks were
incredibly supportive and took the time to teach me
the ropes. Their guidance helped me keep up with the
fast-paced environment, and I soon found myself

fellow trainees did not show up, I found myself managing the
tasks on my own.

Adelina. Despite feeling a bit shy, I chose their ultimate burger,

Overall
Reflection
Throughout my work immersion journey, I have experienced a
transformative learning process across various roles in the
hospitality industry. Starting with my initial days in the coffee
shop, I quickly adapted to the fast-paced environment, honing
my customer service skills and fostering teamwork among staff.
Each day brought new challenges, allowing me to develop a
strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility.
Transitioning to the front office and eventually the kitchen, I
encountered different facets of the hospitality world. My time at
the front office taught me the importance of organization and
guest interaction, while my experience in the kitchen highlighted
the intricacies of culinary operations. Despite initial nerves
about working under the head chef, I found support from my
colleagues, which enabled me to gain confidence in cooking and
food preparation.
As I reflect on my final day, I recognize the valuable lessons
learned throughout these 80 hours: the art of communication,
teamwork, and the dedication required in the restaurant
industry. I have developed not only practical skills, such as
making coffee and cooking various dishes, but also a deeper
appreciation for the hard work that goes into daily operations.
Completing this immersion has solidified my understanding of
the hospitality sector and has inspired me to pursue further
opportunities in this field. I am grateful for the rewarding
experiences and the friendships made along the way, which have
enriched my journey. This experience has been a stepping stone
towards my future career, and I am excited to apply what I have
learned as I move forward.
