8th February to 6th April 2024 at Optimista Learning Hub, Beltola under the external supervision

INTRODUCTION
Fieldwork is the process of observing and collecting data about people, cultures and natural
surroundings. Fieldwork is conducted in the wild of our everyday surroundings rather than in
semi-controlled environments of a laboratory or classroom. The aims and objectives of a
fieldwork are:
1. To enable the students to develop and deepen capacity to relate theories to practise
and also to relate the experience to theory.
2. To offer purposeful learning experience to students through interaction with life
situation under supervisory guidance for professional growth in terms of knowledge,
skills and attitude.
The students of B.A. Psychology 6th semester went to “Optimista learning hub” for 14 days.
In the fieldwork we have learnt about some different types of mental conditions and how they
impact our day-to-day life. We also had theory classes guided by Ms. Tribenee Bhattacharyya.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Psycho education Optimista Learning Hub LLP Optimista is a distinguished organ-
ization and have been working with serving families, groups, individuals, and
couples, providing invaluable guidance and support in the exploration and ex-
pression of their behavioural and cognitive processes. The core mission of Op-
timista Learning Hub revolves around offering effective solutions to those grap-
pling with a wide array of challenges, including anxiety, depression, phobias, and
relationship issues. Additionally, their services extend to collaborations with nu-
merous esteemed institutional partners. The organization's commitment is un-
derscored by their comprehensive approach to personal growth and well- being.

Personal History: adopted child , and her adopted mother had died due to illness , and
her adopted father got married to another . the stepmother ill treated to clients. The cli-
ent her school because of the step mother , and the client decided to get married. The
client get married in second wife and after a 3months she got know about her pregnant
but husband was avoiding the client and also not taking responsibility , the client de-
cided to taken action. The client goes to police and compliant about her husband. The
client cannot goes to her house that’s why she goes to NGO.

Diagnosis and Overall behaviour observation:
After the completion of the counselling session, it was found that, she is a very friendly
woman. She want to go school and regret her life decision in past.
Strengths of the inmate
The client is very good at doing household chores and is quite committed to her work.
She is in need of extrinsic motivation in order to overcome her constant worry about the
future of her new born baby. She is very eager to become independent and earn her
own identity.
WEEKELY EXPERIENCES AND ACTIVITIES
Day 1: Introductory Session
Date: 8-02-24
Activity: First day of our fieldwork was introductory session where we were highlighted about
the internship and the organisation (Optimista learning hub)
Day 2: Visited to Nemcare Super Speciality Hospital
Date: 15-02-24
Activity: One on one counselling session was held with the nurses regarding stress and how
they cope with it.
Understanding about stress and some tips on how to manage stress effectively was given.
Day 3: Learned about trauma, music therapy and art therapy
Date: 22-02-24
Activity: Theory classes were held know about trauma, music and art therapy and how helpful
these therapies are.
In this session every body have their own trauma. They just need to a good therapy and every-
body have their own therapies to relief their own self.
Day 4: Visited Shakti Sadan, Satgaon Ambari.
Date: 29-02-24
Activity: On this day we had one on one counselling with victimized women to know how they
cope and manage it.
Day 5: Volunteered in women’s exhibition cricket match under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
Scheme.
Date: 04-03-24
Activity: We attended women’s exhibition match to volunteer and also watch the match and
witness how this type of match is organized.
Day 6: Visited roadside hotels (Boro)
Date: 07-03-24
Activity: On this day we were asked to visit roadside hotels to know how they manage their
everyday work hassles and also spread awareness about mental health.
Day 7: Attended workshop on psychological well-being of women at N.F Railway Headquarters.
Date: 14-03-24
Activity: Attended workshop on psychological well-being of women so that we can observe and
learn how to give presentations and carry out the session with the attention of audience.
Day 8: TOT class on presentation skills.
Date: 16-03-24
Activity: We had theory classes on how to give presentation and also got knowledge and insight
about presentation skills.
Day 9: Discussion on interview skills.
Date: 21-03-24
Activity: Had a discussion on interview skills like how our body language and non- verbal com-
munication plays a significant role in interview.
Day 10: Visited Arya Vidyapeeth college
Date: 28-03-24
Activity: Visited to Arya Vidyapeeth College where we had we one on one counselling with the
students regarding how to cope with exam stress and maintain self- management.
Day 11: Learnt about psychotherapy.
Date: 29-03-24
Activity: TOT classes on Cognitive behavioural therapy where we were highlighted with the
meaning of psychotherapy. Learned about different types of psychotherapy.
Day 12: Psychologist-meet.
Date: 31-03-24
Activity: We had psychologist meet where we learned how emotionally stressing is their work
and life as they have to keep their feelings enclosed and cannot show it to others. They also
deal with clients and people who need help to provide better outcome for their well-being.
Day 13: Class on CBT.
Date: 4-04-24
Activity: We had a theory class where we learned about CBT and have an in-depth knowledge
about CBT.
Day 14: The last day of internship

This was the last day of our internship; we faced a series of insightful questions during our viva
and highlighted the key takeaway.

LEARNING EXPERIENCE
We had a great experience at the fieldwork, I learned about the counselling session and it gives
me a knowledge about how to develop a positive relationship with the clients. I also learned so
many things which will really help me in my future career. Activities and meditations are
something which everyone needs to practices time to time as it helps us to balance our life
pressure and help us to be present in the current situation, I gained a lot of understanding
about the challenge faced by the people with those conditions and effectiveness of different
treatment.
Lastly the learning experience was good and also the cooperation form the fellow classmates
was good.
CONCLUSION
This period of 14th days, it gives us a well apprise about theoretical as well as practical
knowledge, which will be useful for our future careers, it functions to deal with different types
of people with mental health conditions. I had a very good time with the staff members and the
clients throughout the whole internship process and it is through the experiences, we can
continue to develop new ideas and knowledge, contributing to better overall lifestyles and
well-being.
The anticipate, I gained will be beneficial for me in the future. I thank my department for giving
me this wonderful opportunity to learn many great things and I hope there will be more
opportunity in the future. I really had a good time with everyone and the way they cooperate
was excellent, I really appreciate the way they response.
I’m grateful to be a part of the field work journey and I hope to learn more in the future days to
come.
