Business English is English that is intended in the business field which is very useful
in competition and supports all situations in the business world.

The view of some is that Business English focuses on vocabulary used in the worlds
of commerce, finance, professions, politics, and international relations. People also believe
that “Business English” is used as a communication material on trade topics such as
government and corporate policies, programs, functions, and procedures.

There are various functions of Business English in the business world, namely:

1. Marketing

2. Branding

3. Customer relations

4. Consumer behavior

5. Advertising

6. Public relations

7. Media relations

8. Corporate communication

9. Community engagement

10. Research & Measurement

11. Reputation management

12. Interpersonal communication

13. Employee engagement

14. Online communication

The reasons for using English in business, namely:

1. Because English is a global language that can connect languages in the world.
2. Because almost all employees must know English in their workplace.
3. Computer mastery becomes easier. This is because the majority of the languages on
the computer are in English.

Importance of Business English

Business English has many benefits, including:

1. Business Leverage. Avoid failure in business due to limited knowledge of the basics
of polite communication.
2. Career Growth. Increase self-confidence, having greater knowledge can increase
one’s confidence in running a business so that career growth can increase.
3. The Internet. The use of the internet is very closely related to the business that is
carried out including in making the Web, having good English can be an added value
in managing the internet.

Then how to deal with English in business, this can be done in several ways including:

1. Being a good student, this can be done by ensuring that the material presented can be
recorded and not relying on memory alone so that it can be used as material when
studying, having access to a dictionary so that you can look up the meaning of
unfamiliar words, taking lessons with various preparations good, not afraid to find
out what you don’t understand by asking questions, adding vocabulary by watching
English TV if you have free time, asking for the next material to be studied in order to
find out the material, and taking lessons casually so that the material can be absorbed
well .

has a purpose in chievement of high standards in everyday English skills, which consists of
four main skills, namely:

 Reading
 Writing
 Listening and
 Talking

Meanwhile, Business English aims to achieve high standards in ability Communicate


in english and skills in the business world, which consists of many skills according to the
business being run, including:

 Meeting
 Presentation
 Negotiation
 Communication

In addition, there is a difference between Business English and Business


Communication, namely Business Communication is Communication used when promoting a
product, Service, or Organization; relay Inside information Business; or function As an
official statement from a company, while Business English has a goal to achieve high
standards in communicating in English skills in business which consist of many skills
according to the business being run, including:

 Meeting
 Presentation
 Negotiation
 Communication

Pros of Business English:

 Used to learn new things about business and develop new skills as a teacher.
 Can be used to achieve certain goals to learn English more easily
 Used to communicate with other members at anytime from anywhere.
 Used to meet various professionals and learn about the work culture of different
countries and cultures.

Cons of Business English:

 There is a lot of special vocabulary that is not yet known.


 The special needs of students are difficult to meet.
 The books used take a long time to learn.
 You may be younger than most students and can take time to build credibility.
