ABSTRACT

The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in document analysis has paved the way for intelligent
and interactive systems that enhance user engagement and information retrieval. This study presents a PDF-
based conversational chatbot utilizing the Mistral-7B-Instruct model, built with Streamlit, LangChain, and
(Facebook AI Similarity Search)FAISS to facilitate seamless interaction with document content. The system
processes uploaded PDF files, extracts and segments textual data using Recursive Character Text Splitting, and
employs Hugging Face sentence-transformer embeddings for efficient vector-based semantic search. A
Conversational Retrieval Chain ensures context-aware responses, while Conversation Buffer Memory
maintains dialogue continuity. The chatbot enables users to engage in dynamic, AI-powered discussions with
documents, enhancing comprehension, accessibility, and research efficiency. The results demonstrate
significant improvements in knowledge retrieval, making this system a valuable tool for education, research,
and professional document analysis.
MOTIVATION
The motivation for a Generative AI-based Adaptive AI Tutor tailored with NLP for Personalized Learning lies in
providing high-quality education at scale, making personalized learning accessible to students worldwide, including
those in remote areas.
Bridging the Learning Gap : Traditional education methods often follow a one-size-fits-all approach, which may
not cater to individual learning styles, speeds, and needs. An AI-powered adaptive tutor can dynamically adjust to the
learner’s proficiency, pace, and preferences, ensuring personalized learning experiences.
Leveraging Generative AI for Personalized Feedback : Generative AI enables context-aware responses, real-time
feedback, and adaptive questioning based on a learner's understanding. By using Natural Language Processing
(NLP), the AI tutor can generate explanations, quizzes, and hints tailored to each student, mimicking an expert
human tutor.
Democratizing Personalized Learning : By integrating Generative AI and NLP, this project has the potential to
democratize education, providing each student with a tailored learning experience—whether preparing for exams,
acquiring new skills, or overcoming learning difficulties.
EXISTING SYSTEM

Existing AI tutors are often integrated with NLP and but may incorporate Mistral-7B-Instruct
model for better personalized learning.
Existing systems provide adaptive responses based on user queries ,supporting a large number
of learners with minimal human intervention relying more on pre-defined responses, limited
personalization.
Current AI-based tutoring systems use rule-based chatbots, machine learning models, and
(Natural Language Processing)NLP to provide educational support and improve learning
experience for students to enhance performance.
Up-to-date resources and collaboration with experts in the field can help refine and improve the
system's performance.
PROPOSED SYSTEM

In the proposed system for “Adaptive AI Tutor tailored with NLP for Personalized Learning“, we aim
to overcome the limitations of existing systems.
By combining NLP with Mistral-7B-Instruct model built with Streamlit, LangChain, and FAISS we aim to
create a highly adaptive AI tutor that delivers personalized, interactive, and context-aware learning
experiences and there by facilitating seamless interaction.
Mistral-7B-Instruct model(lightweight yet powerful LLM) mainly assists in generating structured, clear, and
precise explanations as well as providing optimized low latency responses.
The system dynamically adjusts content and difficulty based on learner proficiency enhancing
personalization and performance.

In this module AI Tutor assess the user performance and exhibits the user score
as shown in below image.

In the above screen by clicking on ‘Restart’ button user can reattempt the test to
enhance performance.
RESULTS
Score is incremented if the answer is correct ,else the score is not incremented.
Final score is displayed by AI Tutor and Users can reattempt the test if they are not
satisfied with their score for improvement.

A real-time example of an Adaptive AI Tutor using NLP for Personalized Learning
is Duolingo.
How It Works:
 Personalized Learning Path: Duolingo adapts to the user's proficiency level and
tailors exercises based on their mistakes and strengths.
 Real-time Feedback: It provides instant corrections and explanations using NLP,
ensuring learners understand their errors.
 Conversational AI: Duolingo uses chatbots and speech recognition to simulate real-
world conversations, improving speaking and comprehension skills.
 Adaptive Difficulty: If a user struggles with a concept, the AI adjusts the difficulty
level, offering simpler explanations or more practice questions.
