Language English
Paper size A4
Margins The text of the document must be justified.
Sanctioned left and right margin is 1.5 inches and 1.25 inches
respectively. And top and bottom is 1.00 inch.
Typing On one side of page. The text will follow line spacing of 1.5 lines.
Table and figures, tabular material as necessary and appendix
material as appropriate may be single space.
Centred material is to be centred between the left and right
margins.
The first line of all paragraphs of running text will be indented 0.5
inches.
Pagination Each page must be numbered, except the Title Page.
The pre pages—including the Copyright Page, Faculty Guide
Approval Page, Acknowledgement, Table of Contents, List of
Tables, List of Figures and Abstract (if any) —will be numbered with
lower-case Roman numerals (ii, iii, iv, etc.) centred from the bottom
edge of the page. The first page that will show a page number is
page ii.
All remaining pages carry consecutive numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.). The
page number will be placed in the centre from the bottom edge
of the page.
Arrangement Every NTCC Dissertation should have three parts: the pre pages, the
of Contents main text, and the reference material (Bibliography, Webliography
annexure/s if any and proof of publication)
Each part has several sections, which are normally arranged in the
order discussed below.
1. Preliminary Pages
a. Title page
b. Declaration
c. Topic Approval Letter through Supervisor
d. Acknowledgement(s)
e. Table of Contents
f. Abbreviations
g. List of Cases
h. List of Tables (if any)
i. List of Figures (if any)
j. Abstract /Preface
2. Text (divided into minimum five chapters including
introduction and conclusion with footnotes)
3. Appendices
a-Bibliography,
b-Webliography
c-Annexure/s if any
d- Proof of publication (cover page of publication
and author page/certificate)

Tables and Each table of figure should be placed immediately after the
figures paragraph in which it is mentioned. If it has a separate page, this
page should be the one following the page on which the
table/figure was first mentioned.
Tables and figures that must be positioned horizontally
(landscaped) will face the outer edge of the page, with the widest
margin at the binding edge.
Tables and figures are numbered in separate series. Each table
and figure, including any in the appendices, has a number in its
own series. Each series is numbered consecutively within chapters
(e.g., Figure 10.1, Figure 10.2, and Figure 10.3).
Each table and figure will be separately numbered.
All titles/captions of Table & Figures will appear in the pre pages in the List of Tables
and List of Figures.
Text Format Chapter Title:
Times New Roman, 14 font size. The title should be in capital
letters.
Font Size and Style:
Times New Roman, 12 font size for the main text.
Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 font size.
Line Spacing: The line spacing should be done in following
manner:
Main text - 1.5 space gap.
Footnotes - 1.0 space gap.
Headings: The heading should be used as per the following style:
First heading: 12 font size, Bold in Centre
Second heading: 12 font size, Bold Left aligned.
Third heading: 12 font size, Italics, Left.

Mode of Citation of Case Law
I. Where the case title is written in the body of the text, only
the name of the case shall be in the text e.g. Kesavananda
Bharthi v. State of Kerala and the citation is written in the
footnote as AIR 1973 SC 1461.
II. If the name and citation are to be written in the footnote
itself: Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala, AIR 1973 SC
1461.
III. If parties to a case are numerous, e.g. State of Punjab
v. Union of India and others; this case is to be cited as:
State of Punjab v. Union of India (1977) 3 SCC 592.

I. Citation of a paper published in a journal/periodical:

Name of author of the article, title of the essay within inverted


commas, volume number of journal, Name of the journal in
abbreviation page number (year).

II. Citation of a write-up published in a

Ibid. (meaning ‘in the same place’) is used to refer to an
authority in the footnote immediately preceding the current
footnote and the same page/place is being referred to.
Id. (meaning ‘the same’) is used if the authority is the same but
the page or place of reference is different. E.g. Id. at 30.
