CHAPTER 1
I. Introduction
The integration of Artificial Intelligence in education has significantly modified
the way students acquire knowledge, solve problems, and enhance their academic
intelligence. Artificial intelligence-driven tools are no longer limited to simple
automation; they now have the capability to analyze, predict, and personalize learning
experiences based on individual student needs. With the increasing role of Artificial
intelligence in education, researchers and educators are exploring how these technologies
can unlock hidden abilities in students, enhancing their academic performance beyond
traditional teaching methods.
This research was based on a study conducted by Xieling Chen, Haoran Xie, Di
Zou, and Gwo-Jen Hwang (2020) highlights the impact of Artificial Intelligence on
student learning. Their research demonstrates how AI-powered educational technologies,
such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, and AI-based
assessment tools, can help students develop self-regulated learning strategies, critical
thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities. These technologies provide real-time
feedback, generate personalized study plans, and assist students in overcoming learning
challenges by offering resources based on their strengths and weaknesses.
2
This study focuses on “The Hidden Ability of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing
Students’ Academic Intelligence” by exploring how Artificial Intelligence enhances
students’ emotional abilities, improves academic performance, and promotes independent
learning. AI ability to process huge amounts of data allows it to identify patterns in
student learning behaviors, helping educators to create more effective teaching strategies.
In addition, AI-driven applications encourage interactive learning, collaboration, and
engagement, making education more dynamic and accessible to students with diverse
learning needs.
This research aims to uncover the untapped potential of Artificial intelligence in
shaping the future of education and to understand how Artificial intelligence boost
academic intelligence not only help students maximize their learning potential but also
provide insights into how educational institutions can effectively integrate Artificial
intelligence into their teaching methodologies.
Technological developments are changing how students study and how students
evaluate academic success in today’s quickly changing educational environment. There
are now more chances for more effective instruction and individualized learning due to
the incorporation of digital technologies and artificial intelligence systems into the
educational process. But these developments also present serious difficulties, especially
when it comes to upholding academic integrity, which is essential to the value of
education.
The ability of generated artificial agents to successfully do activities often
associated with human intelligence is known as artificial intelligence (Paudel & Ghimire,
3
n.d.). “Computational systems that exhibit cognitive functions, commonly associated
with human intelligence, particularly focused on learning and solving complex problems”
is a broad definition of artificial intelligence given by Baker and Smith (2019).
Technologies related to artificial intelligence are developing quickly and rapidly
changing each aspect of existence. The majority of students use AI in their daily lives,
especially in academic settings where they complete assignments, essays, and
performance challenges.
The ability of generated artificial agents to successfully do activities often
associated with human intelligence is known as artificial intelligence (Paudel & Ghimire,
n.d.). “Computational systems that exhibit cognitive functions, commonly associated
with human intelligence, particularly focused on learning and solving complex problems”
is a broad definition of artificial intelligence given by Baker and Smith (2019). AI has
been expanding quickly in higher education around the world in recent years. While the
idea of artificial intelligence is not new, it has been around for roughly 70 years.
However, it is anticipated to have a major impact on a number of facets of human
existence in the near future (Dhawan & Batra, 2020). The term artificial intelligence
describes the fusion of computer technology, machine learning, and developments in
information and communication technology. It enables computers to execute tasks that
are almost identical to those of humans. Artificial intelligence has been widely used
in education, keeping pace with the acceptance and application of new technologies in
the end (Chen, et al., 2020). AI that can be learned from existing content to generate
new realistic content is based on supplied data without repetition. It makes it possible
for computers to perform jobs that are almost equivalent to those performed by people.
4
According to Chen et al. (2020), artificial intelligence has been employed extensively in
education to stay up with the adoption and use of new technologies in the field. AI that
can learn from pre-existing content to produce fresh, lifelike content is predicated on data
that is provided without being repeated.
The integration of AI in higher education presents the opportunity for
deeper learning. AI enabled personalized learning, catering to individual students’
pace and proficiency. It encourages deeper understanding rather than rote
memorization. The role of technology is not only in equipping students with
information and communications technology (ICT) skills but also in achieving
quality education, free from the constraints of location and time, and to encourage
curiosity, creativity and collaboration (Akinwalere & Ivanov, 2022)
The researchers ought to acknowledge the role that AI plays in expanding
educational opportunities. A greater range of students, including those from rural and
underprivileged areas, can now access the highest quality education as a result of
AI-powered educational tools. These tools make resources that were previously only
available to schools or areas with significant funding available to a wider audience, which
may help level the playing field in terms of educational attainment.
This is crucial, particularly in high school, when students frequently make
decisions about their academic and professional paths.
Since the use of artificial intelligence in education is unavoidable, as it is in every
other area of contemporary society, attention should be directed toward making sure that
it is implemented effectively, maximizing its advantages while minimizing its risks. This
5
paper examines students’ opinions regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence in academic
integrity.
Nonetheless, there are some significant problems with the implementation of
artificial intelligence in this situation. Why is artificial intelligence used in the classroom
by students? If pupils might rely on it constantly, what are the risks? What effect does it
have on kids’ academic intelligence? These are but a handful of the issues that must be
resolved as AI becomes a more significant component of education.
Therefore, in this study, the researchers discuss the potential applications of AI
systems in education as well as the possible hazards in this paper. The researchers are
also creating policy proposals that try to uncover the hidden capabilities of AI systems
while mitigating the ethical and other problems they might pose.

the pitfalls of Artificial intelligence with students and instructors.
IV. Scope and Delimitations
The scope of this study encompasses the examination of specific Artificial
Intelligence applications, such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning
platforms, and predictive analytics tools within educational settings. The research focuses
on grade 11 students, and is confined to College of Saint Adela Inc. to maintain relevance
and control.
The researchers uses mixed technique: probability sampling, to select a random
student among grade 11, and non-probability technique, the researchers uses purposive
sampling to select a student among grade 11, grade 11 student of College Of Saint Adela
Inc., since it is more accessible to the researchers. Conducted over a designated period,
the study aims to assess both short-term and long-term impacts on a representative
9
sample of students. However, the delimitations include the exclusion of non-educational
Artificial Intelligence technologies, a primary focus on measuring academic performance
improvements rather than other potential benefits, and a limited sample size to ensure
manageable research execution.
Additionally, the study’s geographical scope is restricted to the selected region,
and the research concentrated among the grade 11 students of College of Saint Adela Inc.
to maintain consistency in the analysis.
V. Theoretical Framework
Constructivist Learning
This study is supported by D.H. Jonassen (1999) Students acquire knowledge
through active participation, social interaction, contextual learning, and critical thinking,
according to constructivist learning theory. This theoretical paradigm provides an
insightful viewpoint for analyzing the impact of artificial intelligence on student learning.
Examining how Artificial intelligence tools affect academic intelligence and student
views is crucial as they are incorporated into education more and more. Using Jonassen
constructivist ideas as a framework, this way investigates in which AI affects critical
thinking, contextual knowledge application, active learning, and teamwork.
This study is successful when students actively interact with the material rather
than just interact by taking it in. Artificial intelligence solutions, like adaptive learning
10
platforms and intelligence tutoring systems, enable individualized learning experiences
that motivate students to engage content in meaningful ways.
Constructivist theory employs how crucial social interactions are to the creation
of knowledge. Peer learning and group problem solving made possible for students by AI
powered collaboration technologies like ChatGPT, Google Bard, and discussion based on
platforms. Artificial intelligence can create study questions, lead group discussions, and
give feedback immediately, all of which promote collaboration learning settings.
However, Artificial intelligence uses excessively meaningful human interaction
which is essential for gaining a deeper understanding.
As a result, a balanced strategy is required in which Artificial intelligence
enhances peer collaboration rather than takes its place. Artificial intelligence or conform
facts. Promoting reflective thinking in students which involves evaluating Ai generated
content, contrasting sources, and developing arguments can lessen passive learning.
Therefore, even though Artificial intelligence can improve critical thinking,
teachers must help students use it as a tool to supplement deep cognitive processes rather
than a replacement.
This framework, a useful foundation for examining how Artificial intelligence
affects student learning, is provided by Jonassen Constructivist Learning Theory.
Artificial intelligence has the ability to enable context learning, encourage critical
thinking, improve active involvement, and boost collaboration. How teachers and
students incorporate new tools into classrooms will determine how effective it is. A
11
balanced strategy is necessary with Artificial intelligence acting as a tool rather than a
substitute for critical thinking and practical problem solving. Future studies should
concentrate on maximizing AI’s Educational potential while upholding constructivist
learning fundamental ideas.
VI. Paradigm
The integration of Artificial Intelligence in education presents a transformative
paradigm that reveals the hidden potential of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing
students’ academic intelligence. Artificial Intelligence-driven tools and applications
provide personalized learning experiences, adapting to the individual needs and learning
styles of students. Through advanced data analytics, Artificial Intelligence can identify
gaps in knowledge, recommend tailored resources, and offer real-time feedback, thus
fostering a more dynamic and responsive learning environment. Furthermore, Artificial
Intelligence-powered platforms enable students to design more effective instructional
strategies, leveraging insights from student performance data to optimize teaching
methods. This paradigm shift not only enhances the cognitive abilities of students but
also cultivates critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of
complex subjects. As Artificial Intelligence continues to evolve, its hidden abilities will
play an increasingly pivotal role in shaping the future of education, making learning more
accessible, engaging, and efficient for students worldwide

VII. Review of Related Literature and Studies
In this section the researchers provide the studies and literature that the
researchers used as reference in this study.
Foreign Studies
In education, AI has been seen to have already begun initiating new teaching
and learning solutions that are currently under trial and undergoing restructuring in
different contexts (Bostrum, 2017).
The term Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIEd) describes the application
of AI technologies or programs in educational environments to support
decision-making as well as teaching- learning (Hwang et al., 2020).
The use of AI in the area of education demands a complete overhaul of the
process for assessing. Methods of assessment that are conventional do not adequately
reflect the variety of capabilities and the benefits that AI-enhanced learning environments
provide. Therefore, there is a growing requirement for innovative tests that assess the
13
capacity to think critically, resolve issues, and be creative which are skills highly
desired by the workforce of today (Williamson, 2017).
Crompton et al. (2022) identified a lack of technology skills among students and
teachers, and skills directly related to the usability and design of Al tools. Ahmad et al.
(2022) highlighted the following benefits of using Al: minimizing the administrative
tasks of the educator, assisting with different types of tasks in the form of learning
analytics, virtual reality and minimizing teacher workload, effective and easy assessment
of students. These benefits of Al in education are highlighted by Clugston (2024):
personalized learning, immersive learning experiences, improved student engagement
and motivation, cost-effective learning, integrated learning and intelligent tutoring
systems, continuous evaluation and improvement over time, raising academic standards
and quality of education. Clugston (2024) also highlights the shortcomings of Al: privacy
concerns, reliance on technology, lack of human touch, risk of fraud, displacement of
teacher jobs. Celik et al. (2022) argue that Al offers teachers several opportunities to
improve planning, implement immediate feedback and assessment. Pisica et al. (2023)
describe such benefits of Al in education: can facilitate learning and provide both
students and teachers with personalized attention and feedback; the effectiveness of Al
tools and applications such as virtual and augmented reality, voice assistants, translation
tools, chatbots, gamification, learning and tutoring programmed, instant assessment, etc.
The control of artificial intelligence technologies in terms of careful monitoring,
regulation, and legislation to avoid ethical violations, confidentiality dilemmas, and bias
are among the shortcomings that these authors highlight and that must be addressed as
soon as possible. Another is the adaptation of higher education stakeholders to new
14
technologies and methods. And the possible benefits of artificial intelligence in Education
in how these studies overview the potential benefits of artificial intelligence in terms of
education of a student.
Local Studies
AI is helpful in the education sector especially when paired with a high-quality
learning material which will help materials and instructions (Lee & Koh, 2020).
According to the Department of Education (2019) Briones; The rise of artificial
intelligence has changed the way people learn as educational materials have become
accessible to all through smart devices and computers.
A study by Mallillin (2023) examined the influence of Artificial intelligence on
students’ academic performance, focusing on factors such as improved student
performance, attitudes toward learning, motivation for study habits, and learning
mechanisms. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, incorporating focus group
discussions to gather both quantitative and qualitative data. Findings indicated that
Artificial intelligence positively impacts student performance, enhances motivation, and
improves learning mechanisms. However, the study also raised concerns about students’
overreliance on artificial intelligence, which may hinder the development of independent
problem-solving skills.
15
• Enhanced Learning Experiences: Artificial intelligence tools can provide
personalized learning experiences, adapting to individual student needs
and improving engagement.
• Over Reliance on Artificial intelligence: Some students may become too
dependent on Artificial intelligence tools, reducing their ability to think
critically and solve problems independently.
A study investigated the effects of Artificial intelligence-integrated instruction on
students’ academic performance in a private Senior High School in the Philippines. The
research used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design. Results showed that Artificial
intelligence-assisted learning significantly improved students’ academic outcomes by
offering personalized tutoring and learning analytics. However, the study also warned
that reliance on Artificial intelligence tools could lead to a decline in students’
self-regulated learning behaviors, as they may depend too much on Artificial intelligence
generated answers.
Adaptive Learning Support: Artificial intelligence provides customized study
plans and real-time feedback, helping students learn more effectively.
Over Reliance on Artificial intelligence : Students may struggle to study
independently if they become too dependent on Artificial intelligence for academic tasks.
VIII. Research Methodology
To investigate the hidden abilities of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing students’
academic intelligence, this study will employ a grounded theory. The researchers chose
16
grade 11 students of College Saint Adela Inc., the researchers used a mixed sampling
method: a probability among to grade 11 students, a simple random sampling to ensure
manageable research execution. The research is conducted in two phases: an interview
and data analysation. In the first phase, an interview will be administered to a diverse
sample of students to collect baseline data on current Artificial Intelligence usage in
educational settings, perceptions, and learning outcomes. The second phase involves
analysis of data’s the researchers gathered.
Research Design
In designing this research study, the researchers aim to delve into the nuanced and
often overlooked capacities of artificial intelligence in bolstering students’ academic
intelligence. Recognizing the multidimensional nature of learning and intelligence, this
study seeks to humanize the intersection between AI and education through a qualitative
research approach.
The researchers begin with a comprehensive literature review to situate our study
within the broader context of existing research. This involves an exploration of various
theoretical frameworks and empirical studies that have examined the role of AI in
education, highlighting both the potentials and challenges identified by previous
researchers.
The core of the researchers research design lies in conducting in-depth interviews
among grade 11 students of College Of Saint Adela Inc. By engaging with these
respondents, the researchers aim to gather rich, contextualized insights into how AI tools
and systems are perceived, utilized, and experienced in educational settings. These
17
interviews are structured, allowing for flexibility in exploring emergent themes while
ensuring that key areas of interest are covered.
Data analysis is conducted using thematic analysis, enabling us to identify and
interpret patterns and themes within the qualitative data. Through this process, the
researchers aim to uncover the hidden abilities of AI that contribute to enhancing
students’ academic intelligence, as well as any barriers or limitations that may exist.
Throughout the study, ethical considerations are paramount. The researchers
ensure informed consent, confidentiality, and the respectful representation of participants’
voices and experiences. Our goal is to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about AI in
education, providing a nuanced and human-centered perspective that acknowledges the
complexities and potentials of this evolving field.
Participants
The participants for this study comprise the Grade 11 students at College of Saint
Adela Inc. This cohort offers a unique and varied demographic, reflecting a broad
spectrum of academic talents, interests, and backgrounds. By focusing on this particular
grade, the researchers aim to examine how artificial intelligence interventions can
influence their academic journey during a critical phase of their secondary education.
Selection of participants will be carried out using purposive sampling to ensure a
balanced representation of students who utilize AI tools and those who do not, thus
providing a holistic view of AI’s impact. The students' experiences and perceptions are
gathered through a mix of interviews, observations, and participatory methods, allowing
for a rich and human-centered data collection process. The researchers are committed to
18
maintaining the highest ethical standards, ensuring that informed consent is obtained and
that participants' privacy and confidentiality are safeguarded throughout the research.
This approach will enable us to capture authentic insights that reflect the realities and
potential of AI in educational contexts.
Research Instrument
The researchers’ instrument in this study is an interview using a prepared set of
questions on sixteen (16) Grade 11 Students at College of Saint Adela Inc.—since it is
more accessible to the researchers. Consisting of open-ended questions aimed at
gathering students’ perceptions and insights on the role of artificial intelligence in
academic intelligence.
The interview focuses on understanding how students view the hidden ability of
artificial intelligence in their academic practices, particularly in relation to maintaining or
challenging academic integrity. The responses will provide valuable data that will help in
analyzing students’ awareness and attitudes toward Artificial Intelligence's impact on
their academic work. The researchers have the following set of questions for their
interview.
19
CHAPTER 2

This chapter presents the results obtained from the respondents, which provides
an analysis of the major and minor themes of the study.
I. How often do you use Artificial Intelligence?
II. Does Artificial Intelligence help you in your activities?
20
III. Artificial Intelligence Improves Student Learning
Artificial Intelligence enhances student learning experience and motivation
through interactive and gamified learning experiences (Holmes et al., 2021). It helps
students by using an engaging application of Artificial intelligence to improve their
Academic Intelligence as a student. As one of the respondents said:
“I think Artificial Intelligence can improve the learning experience when used
appropriately.”
IV. How does AI help students?
Artificial Intelligence chatbots can boost students' interest in learning because,
according to Perksaitis and Rose et al. (2023), students who used a chatbot program
showed noticeably higher levels of interest in learning. Artificial Intelligence chatbots
can also improve student motivation, engagement, and knowledge acquisition through
interactions and real-time feedback; create a more dynamic and engaging learning
environment; and streamline the learning process by giving users instant access to
information and extra resources. Does Artificial Intelligence doesn't affect the academic
Integrity of you as a student?
“AI can help students in terms of their Academic Task (quizzes, reviewer,
activities etc.) If they know how to use it properly”
V. What concerns or fears do you have, if any, regarding the use of Artificial
Intelligence in your activities?
21
According to McCabe et al. (2020), the employment of an artificial
intelligence in the classrooms raises issues with the academic integrities, as
certain students may abuse technologies to complete their schoolwork like
assignments dishonestly. This over reliance can obstruct the development in
critical thinking abilities, lessen creativity, and negatively affect comprehension.
Although AI can be a beneficial tool and its ethical use essential to maintain both
academic integrity and personal development. As one of the respondents said:
“It is often used to cheat in essays. It makes comprehension lacking and
low creativity.”
VI. Can AI enhance students’ creativity and innovation? If yes, how?
According to EdSurge (2024), Artificial Intelligence can boost the creativity and
innovation of students through the varied ideas and inspirations that they can
develop and utilize in their work. Artificial Intelligence enabled tools can
facilitate the creative process, ranging from idea generation to project polishing,
thus empowering students to overcome challenges and express themselves
uniquely. As one of the respondents said:
“Yes, if they know how to use it properly.”
VII. Does Artificial Intelligence doesn't affect the academic Integrity of you as a
student?
According to McCabe et al. (2020) discovered in their research that The
use of Artificial Intelligence technology has raised issues about academic honesty
22
as students could rely on these tools to cheat or plagiarize. However ethically used
artificial intelligence can enhance student understanding and interaction with the
material by means of resources study aids and feedback thus promoting learning.
As long as students avoid abuse or excessive dependency on these tools Artificial
intelligence tools can help to foster cooperation and critical thought by means of
them. As one of the respondents said:
"Depending on Artificial Intelligence is affecting the academic Integrity as
a student”
VIII. What are the effects of using Artificial Intelligence in your School activities?
Students' learning experience could be greatly altered by artificial
intelligence which would provide both benefits and drawbacks.
Positive: By customizing their academic experiences. Artificial Intelligence can
assist students to raise their learning result. Jones and Li (2022) claim that
artificial intelligence driven systems adapting to each student's learning style have
been proven to dramatically raise student detention and take off difficult material.
This customization of learning tools help students to advance at their own study.
Negative: But, there might be some downsides as well. One main worry is
dependence on artificial intelligence technology since this can make students less
analytical in their thought. Smith and Kumar's (2020) investigation indicates that
relying too much on Artificial Intelligence for solution might cause students to
23
forsake building their own problem-solving abilities. This could impede their
independent and creative thinking.
As one of the respondents said:
In a positive perspective,“it helps to make explanations easier and helps
with grammar checking and typos.” Negatively, “I can see that many students use
it to do their entire homework even in research.”
