Solutions: Area of a Triangle – Counting Squares

🔹 Section A: Counting Squares (Estimate the Area)

1. 4 + 2×0.5 = 5 cm²
2. 3 + 4×0.5 = 5 cm²
3. 6 + 3×0.5 = 7.5 cm²
4. 2 + 6×0.5 = 5 cm²
5. 5 + 1×0.5 = 5.5 cm²
6. 7 full squares = 7 cm²
7. 5 + 4×0.5 = 7 cm²
8. 6 + 1×0.5 = 6.5 cm²
9. 3 + 5×0.5 = 5.5 cm²
10. 10×0.5 = 5 cm²

🔹 Section B: Explain Your Thinking

11–15. Answers will vary. Sample for 11: "I counted the full squares as 5 and
half squares as 2, so I added 5 + 1 = 6 cm²."

🔹 Section C: Use of Formula & Geometry

16. ½ × 4 × 6 = 12 cm²
