Exercices 2 :

1- A device consists of 4 components connected in series, with reliabilities of 0.98, 0.97, 0.95, and
0.99, respectively 0,98 ; 0,97 ; 0,95 et 0,99

2- A device consists of 4 components connected in parallel,

with reliabilities of 0.98, 0.97, 0.95, and 0.99,
respectively 0,98 ; 0,97 ; 0,95et 0,99

System Reliability

3- Three devices A, B, and C with identical reliabilities RA= RB= RC=0.75 are connected in
parallel
a) Determine the overall reliability of this system
b) How many parallel-connected devices would be required to achieve an overall
reliability of 0.999 (99.9%)?
c) If we want to have an overall reliability of 99% using only three devices in parallel,
what should be the individual reliability R of each device?
