Sub.Code: 222C31 Practical : 50 marks

Record : 10 marks

DO BOTH THE EXPERIMENTS

1. Choose any ONE experiment : (25)

(a) Analyse the given SUGAR sample systematically and record your observations
neatly.
(b) Analyse the given AMINO ACID sample systematically and record your observations
neatly.

2. Choose any ONE experiment (Titrimetric) (25)

(a) Determination of saponification value of an edible oil.

(b) Determination of acid number of an edible oil.
(c) Determination of iodine value of an edible oil.
INSTRUCTIONS TO EXAMINERS FOR CORE PRACTICAL-III

(a) Examiners are provided with the question paper and the key.
(b) Candidates should do one qualitative and quantitative experiment.
(c) Examiners are requested to select the questions and dictate them to candidates. Question
papers should not be given to candidates.
(d) Candidates should submit the procedure for both questions in separate sheets. After their
submission, the examiner should dictate the correct procedure before commencing the
experiment.

Key (For use of Examiners only)

1. Qualitative Analysis of Carbohydrates: (1% solution)

(Glucose, Fructose, Arabinose, Maltose, Sucrose, Lactose, Starch).
Any three or four of the above sugar can be selected and given.

2. Qualitative Analysis of Amino acids: (0.5% solution)

(Arginine, Cysteine, Histidine, Proline, Tryptophan, Tyrosine, Methionine)
Any three or four of the above amino acid can be selected and given.

3. Quantitative Analysis (Titrimetric)

Any one experiment may be given to the candidates. Standard solutions should be
prepared by the candidates.
Candidate should submit the procedure for quantitative analysis in separate sheets. After
their submission, the examiner should dictate the correct procedure before commencing
the experiment.
