Hello everybody and welcome to the final event in our week-long fundraising .
I can tell you that thanks to this community, we have saved your local independent bookshop.

6 Focus on language: "whereas" to show contrast
We often use linking words to contrast two different ideas. One word we often use to do this is
whereas. Take a look at this example:
We use whereas to show a contrast between two ideas in the same sentence. We need to
put a comma before whereas when it is used in the middle of a sentence.
You can also start a sentence with whereas. Look at this example:
Now use the contrasting ideas in the two columns to write sentences with whereas.
