Trello Tutorial: Classroom Event Planner

Objective: By the end of this activity, you will be able to use Trello to plan and organize a classroom
event collaboratively.

Step 1: Setting Up

1.1. Navigate to Trello and sign up (or log in if you already have an account).

1.2. Once logged in, click on the + button on the top right and select Create Board.

1.3. Name the board "Classroom Event Planner".

Step 2: Creating Lists

For this event, you'll be creating three main categories (lists):

2.1. Click on Add another list and create the following lists:

• "Tasks"

• "In Progress"

• "Completed"

Step 3: Adding Tasks (Cards)

In the "Tasks" list:

3.1. Add a card named "Finalize Event Date".

3.2. Add another card titled "Send Invitations".

3.3. Continue adding tasks such as "Decide on Refreshments", "Set Up Seating Arrangements", and
"Prepare Welcome Speech".

Step 4: Task Details

4.1. Click on the "Finalize Event Date" card.

4.2. Add a due date for this task.

4.3. Attach a sample calendar or relevant link to the card.

4.4. In the comment section, write down any initial thoughts or concerns about the task.
Step 5: Using Labels

5.1. Still in the "Finalize Event Date" card, click on Labels on the right.

5.2. Create and assign a label named "Priority".

5.3. Use different colored labels for tasks like "Food & Beverage", "Logistics", and "Communication".

Step 6: Collaboration

6.1. Invite a classmate to your board by clicking on "Invite" at the board's top right.

6.2. Assign the "Send Invitations" task to the classmate you invited.

Step 7: Progress Tracking

7.1. Once you've started working on a task, drag the card from "Tasks" to "In Progress".

7.2. Once finished, move it to "Completed".

Step 8: Checklists

For tasks that involve multiple steps:

8.1. Click on the "Prepare Welcome Speech" card.

8.2. Add a checklist titled "Speech Components".

8.3. List items such as "Introduction", "Thank Parents", "Mention Teachers", and "Conclusion".

8.4. As you complete each component, tick it off in the checklist.

Step 9: Reflect and Discuss

9.1. On the "Decide on Refreshments" card, leave a comment suggesting a particular snack or
beverage.

9.2. Reply to comments left by team members to collaborate effectively.

Step 10: Finalize

10.1. Ensure all tasks have been moved to the "Completed" list.

10.2. Leave a final comment on the board summarizing the event preparations.
