Activity: OJT Orientation, visit, and solving.


It was a grand day when we started our on-the-job training at
Abedoza construction services located at Mangaldan, Pangasinan. First,
We formally started our training on June 20. My colleagues and I were
all greeted by the owner/engineer Abedoza. The engineer conducted an
orientation teaching us about the true life of an engineer, he shares
his goals and show us his dedication to the profession he has. Second,
We are privileged to observe and tour one of their almost finished
project at San Fabian, Pangasinan. Indeed, the site visit is the one
that hypes me up it’s because it teaches us a real-life application and
what you will do when you already have your project. The site visit
leaves me with full knowledge of the field of construction. Lastly, we
are given a book from Fajardo that talks about mainly estimates of
materials to be use. We are tasked to estimate one of their ongoing
projects. It was our first time estimating the materials but we did not
fail to amaze our engineer, as he check our papers, he greets us with a
smiling face saying that we were all good and that we can now estimate
materials like a professional.
Personal Observation:
As we look at our training, I think we learn much more than
expected. Site visit alone gives us incomparable knowledge of
construction but I think I must be involved more in the things that
laborers are doing. The book that was given to us helped us a lot in
estimating materials accurately. Studying almost all the methods of
estimating astonished me at how to estimate correctly so that nobody can
fool me when it comes to projects.
