Chapter Fourteen: Gifts from Heaven

XXXXX

A/N: Short chapter sorry. I got so busy with everything I was doing
that I had to cut this because I lost my notes on the ending. I think it
turned out pretty good, and I hope you all enjoy.

Archer shifted, moving to run his fingers through Gunther's hair again.
For two days, the kid did nothing by lay in bed and cry softly. Archer
wanted to hurt something or someone; he wanted to beat his head
against the wall. Yet all he could do was lay here and gently stoke
Gunther's hair.

"How are you feeling?" Archer asked, knowing the kid wasn't asleep,
and he also knew that Gunther wasn't going to answer him. Shifting
again, Archer reached for the kid's face. Tilting his head, looking into
the kid's dull red-rimmed eyes. "Come on baby."

Gunther didn't answer, just closed his eyes with a sigh. He was so
tired, and really fighting wasn't even an option anymore. He just
wanted to sleep, and at least with Archer holding him he could.
Seconds later, black obliviouation took him.

When Gunther awoke later, he was alone in the bed. Rolling over to
his other side, he stared at the wall slowly become aware of someone
sitting in a chair next to his bed. It took him a moment to focus seeing
Adir was watching him. And he could see something in the boy eyes.

"What?" He asked quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I just wanted to sit with you." Adir said not shifting in his seat.
"Why?" Gunther asked. "I betrayed you guys, telling you that you
aren't my family."

"But deep down, you know we are." Adir said, his voice quiet and
even. But Gunther could hear the weariness in it. Knowing that the
boy was tired.

"You should be in bed, sleeping." Gunther said, as he shifted moving

to make room on his bed for the boy. "Come here and lay down."

Adir stared at him for a few minutes, before the boy wearily got up
and crawled in next to Gunther. Curling up on his side, he looked up
at his friend. "You need to sleep again."

"How come Mercer is letting you in here?" Gunther asked softly.

"Because he knows I love you, and he is worried too." Adir said softly
yawning as he let his eyes close. Gunther watched him for another few
minutes, before his eyes closed too.

"What are you thinking Archer?" Mercer asked, seeing the man look
up from where he was staring at his coffee cup.

"That until the day he's dies, his parents are gonna keep hurting him."
Archer said softly.

"Those emotions are gonna be his down fall, Arch." Mercer said,
seeing the man look up at him sharply.

"And what, he's suppose to be emotionless?" Archer asked shaking his

head. He expected Mercer of many things, but being cold wasn't one
of them. "That's fucking cold."

"When powers like his, attached to his emotions, he needs to learn to

control the emotions, and thus learn to control the power." Mercer
said. "Archer, I know he's young, but you know what's gonna happen
if he doesn't learn to control himself."
"And what of Adir? His powers can be just as destructive." Archer
said.

"Shen can control his powers, even when highly emotional, the boy
can stay in control." Mercer said. He watched as Archer's attention
turned back to his coffee. "I don't want to see Gunther killed any more
then you do."

"I know." Archer said softly. He also knew there was no way to make
it look like the kid died either. The top people would know they could
test for those things.

"But hey, let's now worry about it until after the holidays." Mercer
said standing. "I know that neither boy is gonna be ready to leave the
building anytime soon."

"Yeah." Archer said grinning slightly. He stood when Mercer did,

following the man towards Gunther's room. Mercer was going to drag
Adir back to the bedroom, and make the boy take a nap. He stopped in
the doorway, seeing them curled up on the bed. "Maybe we should let
them sleep?"

"Yeah." Mercer replied, as he watched them for a few more minutes

before turning a walking away.

Adir walked slowly from Mercer's room towards the central area.
When he had finally awoken, and gone to his room Mercer wasn't
there and it was already three in the morning. Gunther was still asleep,
and Archer had been sleeping in the chair that Adir had vacated
earlier. Now all he had to do was find Mercer.

"My love?" Adir said softly when he didn't see the man right away.

"Down here." Mercer replied. Adir raised an eyebrow walking over to

where Mercer's voice had come from.
"What are you doing?" Adir asked, seeing the man look up at him. He
could see that Mercer was watching him for several minutes, the man's
mind completely shut off from him. "Mercer?"

"I love you, you know that right?" Mercer asked not taking his eyes
off the boy.

"Yes." Adir replied, taking Mercer's hand when the man reached for
him. He came to be sitting next to the man, fear shown in his face.

"And you know that I would kill anyone who tried to take you away,
or hurt you right?" Mercer asked seeing the fear intensify in Adir's
eyes. Reaching up he laid his hand on the boy's cheek; with a sad
smile he opened his mind to Adir. Letting every fear, and doubt out.

Adir gasp, his eyes fluttering closed at the feeling of Mercer

surrounding him. It had been so long since Mercer had let the boy in
completely, he could feel the pain that Mercer thought he'd fail him
some how. Reaching up, he placed his hand over Mercer's and
reopened his eyes.

"I love you, you are my soul." Adir said. "I feel so safe when I am
with you."

"I know, but I just feel so scared sometimes." Mercer said sitting up to
wrap his arms tightly around the boy. Pulling him close, Mercer
buried his nose into the boy's silky blond hair.

"Come to bed and hold me." Adir said feeling the man nod against
him. Mercer stood, pulling the boy up into his arms and carried him to
bed. Crawling into the bed, he kept Adir close. After a few minutes,
Adir pulled back reaching up to wrap his arms around the man's neck.

"I want to give you the other part of my surprise." Mercer said, pulling
away to get up from the bed. Adir watched him walk across the room,
seeing him pull something from the drawer and then come back to the
bed. "I've always wondered what I would do when I met the right
person."
"Mercer." Adir started, but stopped when Mercer placed his hand over
the boy's cheek, letting his thumb slide over Adir's low lip.

"I've known for a while now, that I've wanted to be tied to you."
Mercer said, holding up a box. "I know we can't marry, and I'm not
even sure if that matters. I don't know how to bond us together
anymore then you've already done."

"You bought me a ring?" Adir asked, watching as Mercer opened the

box. Inside was a small antique gold ring, with small diamonds set
into it.

"My grandmother told me, that when I find the right man, to give it to
him." Mercer said softly. "And you're the only living soul that I've
ever wanted to give it to."

"Oh Merc, it is beautiful." Adir whispered, reaching out to touch the

ring. He smiled when Mercer pulled out the ring and slip it onto his
finger. "I love you so much."

"I love you too kitten." Mercer said grinning, as he pulled the boy
back down.

"Come on My Gunny, enough." Adir said pulling at the kid's arm

again.

"I don't want to get up, Shen, let me alone." Gunther hissed from
under his pillow.

"But it is Christmas, and it is time to open presents." Adir said pulling

on Gunther's arm again. Archer and Mercer watched, amused from the
doorway of Gunther's room. Gunther muttered something, which only
Archer caught. "I will stay here all day and tomorrow if I have to."

"You're such a brat." Gunther hissed shifting to pull his head from
under his pillow. He glared at the boy, then at the other two men. "I
really don't feel like opening presents, and I don't feel like getting up."
"I do not care." Adir said hearing the kid sigh. Gunther shook his
head, pulling himself from the bed. Adir grinned, leaving the room
with the other three behind him. He went down to the living room, a
smile on his face. He waited for the others to find sitting places, and
then he started to hand out gifts.

As soon as everything was handed out, Adir stopped his eyes scanning
the stuff. When his eyes found his lover he smiled. Walking over he
sat down, grinning as Mercer handed him a gift. Opening it he grinned
at his lover, it was beautiful gold armband.

"Here open this one." Adir said grinning as he scooted closer to

Mercer. The man raised an eyebrow at him, reaching out to take the
colorful wrapped package. Opening it he pulled out something soft
and see-through.

"I don't think it will fit me." Mercer said grinning at Adir, he could
imagine the boy in this outfit, and felt his body twitch in response.

"It is not supposed to fit you." Adir said grinning seductively. "There
is more in our room."

"Oh." Mercer said not sure he could take much more. Grinning he
pulled Adir into his lap helping the boy open the rest of his gifts.

"Wow." Archer said as he looked at the painting. He looked up at the

kid, seeing Gunther was watching him. "Thank you its beautiful."

"I'm glad you like it." Gunther said softly. Looking down at the small
box in his hand, he slowly pulled off the paper, opening the box to
find a key. Confused he looked up at Archer.

"The bike was too big to get into the upstairs." Archer said grabbing
Adir and Mercer's attention.

"Bike?" Gunther inquired, looking at the key in his hand then back up
at his boss.

"Bike, motorcycle." Archer said watching Gunther's eye widen.

"You bought me a motorcycle?" He asked his voice hoarse.

"I did, you needed something to drive." Archer said seeing Gunther
look up at him again. A sad smile touched Gunther's face as he shifted
slightly to lightly hug Archer.

"Thank you." Gunther said pulling back.

"You're welcome." Archer said smiling.

"Well I should start breakfast." Gunther said getting up; he left the
living room walking into the kitchen. He turned slightly seeing Adir
standing there.

"Can I help?" Adir asked grinning as he walked over towards the

fridge. Gunther nodded, watching as the boy stared to pull out thing
for waffles.

"Waffles again?" Gunther asked, seeing the boy nod.

"Please, the frozen ones are not as good as yours." Adir asked
bouncing on his feet as he watched Gunther. The kid nodded,
instructing Adir in what he needed to do to get the waffle iron ready
for the batter. Keeping an eye on the boy Gunther mixed up the batter,
and soon they had enough waffles to feed them all.

"That was so nice." Adir said from where he was snuggled against
Mercer watching the fire. Gunther had no only prepared a great
breakfast, but for some reason the kid felt the sudden need to make a
huge dinner. And now they were sitting around too full to do anything
but watch the fire. "That meal was great, my Gunny."

"Thanks Adir." Gunther said from where he was sitting next to

Archer. While he wasn't exactly leaning against the man, he did have
his leg pressed to his bosses. He and Archer had gone down and
looked at the black sleek bike, and Gunther was instantly in love. It
had then stuck him; the bike was a lot like his mate, sleek and sexy.
"What are you thinking about?" Archer asked wrapping an arm around
the kid's shoulders.

"Hum?" Gunther asked his face warming.

"You're blushing, what were you thinking about?" Archer asked

leaning slightly to sniff the air.

"My bike." Gunther whispered wishing the man would stop that. He
watched as Archer shrugged with a smile and leaned back against the
sofa they were sitting on. Relaxing finally after such an emotional few
days, Gunther finally leaned against the man next to him, laying his
head against Archer's shoulder. "Thank you again."

"You're welcomed again, baby." Archer answered softly. Keeping his

arm around the kid's shoulders light, he leaned back letting his eyes
watch the dancing fire. Even after Adir and Mercer retired for the
night, they stayed their quiet and just watching the fire, calm in each
other company.

End Christmas story.
