TYPE OF LESSON: mixed lesson – teaching and consolidation
VOCABULARY: a, an, some, any
GRAMMAR: Teaching and consolidation
DATE: 11.06.2024
TIME: 50 minutes

1. Aims of the lesson:


1. to activate students’ vocabulary
2. to introduce grammar concerning, countable and uncountable nouns
3. to encourage speaking and comprehension skills
4. to develop the pupils’ listening, reading and writing skills;
5. to consolidate the language of nouns;

Competences:
By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
 To use a/an- some/any correctly
 to know what countable and uncountable nouns are and how to use them correctly
in a sentence

Materials, textbooks, notebooks, board, pens


Skills: Listening, reading and writing
Techniques: Exposing, conversation, fill in exercises, listening and reading for specific
information, dialogue
Anticipated problems:
- some pupils might feel nervous and reluctant to participate in the activity, thus they may need
assistance;
- some students might need further help and extra indications in solving the tasks and they may
also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian.

STAGES OF THE LESSON


1. Warm-up
Aim:
- to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Time: 3 minutes
Interaction: T - pupils, pupils -T
Procedure:
Teacher greets the pupils, asks about their mood and the pupils answer. Teacher checks the
attendance.

2. Lead-in
Aim:
- to consolidate the language
Time: 5 minutes
Interaction: S-T, T-S, S-S\
Procedure:
T asks the SS to open the book at page 61 and T announces the students what they will study that
day. (countable and uncountable nouns) The teacher asks them to explain the terms and give
some examples of countable and uncountable noun.

3. Interaction: Presentation and practice


Time: 25 minutes
Interaction: T- pupils, pupils –T
- to develop the pupils’ speaking skills;
- to provide guidance in practising the vocabulary and grammar structures.
Procedure:
T. makes the connection with the lesson and explains what are the countable and the
uncountable nouns. The students take notes on their notebooks. The teacher writes on the board
the explanations related to countable or uncountable nouns. They revise the plural forming rules.
The teacher will also explain them that we use quantifiers to measure countable and uncountable
nouns. The teacher notes on the board what are the quantifiers and how we use them.
Ss will receive a worksheet in which they have to write if the noun is C or U and to write the
right quantifier for some words.

4. Homework assignment
Aim:
- to offer positive feedback
- to provide further practice of the vocabulary and the structure of the unit
Time: 3 minutes
Interaction: T - pupils
ProcedureT. asks the pupils to look at the worksheet for home and to ask questions if they didn’t
understand the lesson.
