Phase one
Budget

To enhance students' appreciation of pharmacognosy theoretical aspects, we propose

establishing a herbal apothecary. This facility will feature commonly used medicinal plants in
their dried form, allowing students to identify and explore their distinctive chemical and
organoleptic properties. Phase 1 will lay the groundwork for a medicinal plant
nursery/herbarium (Phase 2), showcasing fresh, potted medicinal plants. This hands- on
experience will equip students with practical skills in: 1. Crude drug production 2. Developing
herbal formulations for various ailments 3. Understanding the pharmacological and therapeutic
importance of phytochemicals.
By acquiring these skills, students will be empowered to create their own herbal
products for market distribution. The apothecary will serve as a hub for research and
development in herbal medicine, driving innovation and growth in the field.
