Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is the sacred key that unlocks the door to our innermost
wisdom, guiding us on the journey of self-discovery and spiritual transformation
Good morning, beloved members. My name is Bibhu, and I have been practicing this
life-transforming philosophy since childhood. Over the past 18 years I have
experienced numerous extraordinary benefits, one of which I am feeling fortunate to
share with you today.
On July 1st, I began suffering from a fever. Initially, we assumed it was a common
seasonal fever, so I consulted a doctor who diagnosed me with tonsillitis. He
prescribed antibiotics and recommended rest for five days, assuring me that I would
recover completely. However, even after five days, my fever persisted, ranging
between 100-104 degrees Fahrenheit. This caused considerable concern for my
parents leading them to admit me to Apollo Hospital.
In our moment of distress, we turned to the Gohonzon and chanted with unwavering
devotion. Suddenly, a sense of clarity emerged: we should test for dengue and
typhoid. If either test proved positive, we would proceed with hospitalization to
ensure appropriate care. The dengue test was negative, but the typhoid test came
back positive. With this diagnosis, we prepared for my hospital admission to prevent
the disease from becoming chronic. Fortunately, our doctor advised that it was not
chronic and that I could continue treatment at home. This was a great relief, and we
felt immense gratitude to the Gohonzon.
As the Gosho states:
“Believe in this mandala with all your heart. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is like the roar of
a lion. What sickness can therefore be an obstacle?”
This line highlights the profound power of chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo to
overcome obstacles, including illness, and to achieve good health. The recovery
phase was challenging. I adhered to a strict diet of boiled food without oil or spices
and followed a rigorous medication regimen. I also experienced severe body pain,
stomach pain, muscle weakness, and hair loss. Despite these trials, I am pleased to
share that I am now nearly fully recovered. Though I am still on medication and
maintaining a careful diet, I am deeply thankful to the Gohonzon for helping me
surmount this chronic illness and navigate a difficult period that significantly
disrupted my daily life. I also never stopped my daily practice of Gongyo & Daimoku
though for few minutes.
As stated in "The Three Kinds of Treasure":
You must strengthen your resolve more than ever. The darker the night, the nearer
the dawn; the more difficult the journey, the closer the destination. With the heart of
a lion king, carry out your practice with the firm resolve that nothing will stop you. By
doing so, you will naturally pass through any suffering and enjoy the joy of good
health
Finally, I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Gohonzon, my mentor, and my
parents for their unwavering dedication and support, which have empowered me to
stand before you today and share this experience.
