Battery
Assalamualaikum [Link].
Good afternoon everyone! My name is Ferdiansyah Erwin Saputra. Today I would like to
show my presentation about battery.
The first I will explain about the definition of battery. The second about the types of battery.
The third about the function of battery. And the last one is about the materials of battery.
Let’s go to the first topic. The definition about battery. A battery is an electrical-chemical
device that stores energy and releases its power in the form of electricity.
The second topic is about the types of battery. First is the primary battery. Primary batteries
are also known as non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries are designed to be disposable
and then disposed of without the possibility of recharging. Once the energy is depleted, the
battery must be replaced. Primary batteries are assembled in a charged state and their
capacity is limited by the amount of energy that can be obtained from the volume of reactants
placed in them during manufacture. The second is secondary battery. Examples of primary
batteries are Zinc-Carbon Battery, Lithium Battery, Silver Oxide Battery. A secondary
battery can be recharged once discharged by reversing the current flow through the battery.
Other terms for this type of battery are rechargeable battery or accumulator. Secondary
batteries are usually assembled in a discharged state and must first be charged before they can
undergo a discharge in the secondary process. Examples of secondary batteries are Nickel-
Cadmium Batteries and Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries.
Next is about the function of battery. The function of the battery is to conduct electricity to an
object, so that objects that are electrified can carry out their functions optimally. From this
process, it can be said that the function of the battery is very important in objects that need to
be electrified. Along with the development of time and technology, this makes some objects
work well even though they don't use batteries. However, until the second use of the battery
is still used. For example, on cellphones, laptops, watches and so on.
Now, the last topic. The materials of battery.
1. Anode
This is the positive part of the battery where the oxidation reaction takes place when
the battery is in use. Common materials used for the anode are zinc, copper, or
lithium, depending on the type of battery.
2. Cathode
This is the negative part of the battery where the reduction reaction takes place when
the battery is used. The material used for the cathode also varies depending on the
type of battery. For example, in zinc-lead batteries, the cathode is usually made of
lead dioxide.
3. Electrolyte
This is the substance that allows the flow of ions between the anode and cathode
when the battery is in an active state. The electrolyte can be a liquid or solid solution
that contains ions that can move.
That's all from me and thank you for your great attention. I hope you have a nice day.
