What is a Skill Matrix?

A skills matrix is a visual tool that maps the required


and current skills and competencies and their levels
for a team, department or organization.

Helps in identifying skill gaps, planning training, and


managing resources efficiently.

A skill is a specific learned ability required to carry out a task or job, usually
gained through training or experience and focuses strictly on identifying and
tracking specific skills within a workforce.

Examples include proficiency in a foreign language or the ability to use a


specific type of software.
Importance of a Skill Matrix?
