COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course covers the basic principles of heat transfer and their application in the
field of engineering. Three basic methods of heat transfer are discussed, with main
emphasis on conduction and convection. In conduction steady heat flow, through simple
and composite structures, are mainly considered with and without internal heat generation.
The convection part of the course would cover both free and forced convection with both
internal and external flows. At the end of the course, the students would also be introduced
to the working principle of heat exchangers, a good example of the application of the heat
transfer laws. During the course students also performs many experiments to verify the
basic laws of heat transfer.
