CHAPTER 1
Introduction
This research study aims to Relationship between self- efficancy and academic achievement
among ABM students. Self-efficacy can affect in mental health of students and can motivate
students to continue their growth, and faced self-efficacy for their future academic performance.
Students who have high self-efficacy empowers learners to belive in their own abilities. It can
affect on mental health of students in experiencing depression and anxiety make people able to
interpret potentially threatening expectations as manageable significant challenges and help
them feel less stressful in such situations. influence the choice of tasks and perseverance while
doing them.
On the other hand, students who have low self-efficacy are more likely to be afraid of doing their
tasks, avoiding, postponing, activities, and etc. When students perceive satisfactory goal
progress, they feel capable of improving their skills, goal attainment, coupled with high self-
efficacy, leads students to set new challenging goals. This self-efficacy can help students
success in their daily challenges. Self-efficacy can help you better deal with these difficulties
more effectively.
ABM students may face various challenges in their daily lives, but self-efficacy can motivate
them to do their tasks, learning capacity even in their performance. Self-efficacy refers to a
student's belief in their ability to succeed in specific tasks or challenges. Self-efficacy show how
confident ABM students are when it comes to academic performance and how their confidence
influence their grades and overall academic abilities. ABM students who believe in their abilities
tend to perform better academically. This leads to higher grades and understand their lessons
more effectively
CHAPTER 1
Theoretical Framework
According to Bandura, Self-Efficacy is a persons judgment of their ability to organize and carry
out actions. The idea behind Self-Efficacy Theory is that people can influence their own actions.
Individuals can decide how to behave by reflecting on their thoughts and using their knowledge
and skills to complete specific tacks ( Bandura ) to determine Self-Efficacy, a person needs the
opportunity to evaluate themselves by comparing their performance against a standard, this
process helps them judge their abilities and set expectations for their self-efficacy. Self efficacy
is important because it boosts students confidence to face challenges in their academic life.
When a ABM student has high self-efficacy, they are more likely to believe they con overcome
academic challenges and succeed in their studies.
The Theory of Self-Efficacy was developed by Albert Bandura. He created the Social Cognitive
Theory. This theory explain the interaction between a person, their behavior, and their
environment as "triadic reciprocality." This means that personal, behavioral, and environmental
factors interact and influence each other ( Bandura). Reciprocal determinism, another part of
this theory, suggests that a person thoughts, actions, and environmental influences work
together to determine their behavior. This theory shows how self-efficacy plays an important role
in the academic success of ABM students. Students with high self-efficacy approach academic
tasks with a positive attitude because they believe they can succeed, even in difficult situations.
This belief leads to greater effort and determination to continue their studies.
according to Mills, Pajares, and Herron, self-efficacy refers to a persons evaluation of their
ability to succeed in a specific situation. It is important to understand that this concept is about
what a person believes they can do, not necessarily what they are actually capable of doing.
Self-efficacy is crucial in studying its relationship with the academic achievements of ABM
students. Students beliefs in their abilities directly affect the tasks they choose, the effort they
put into those tasks, and their persistence in completing them, especially when facing
challenges.
This study also looks at the role of self-efficacy in students academic performance, particularly
in learning English. Even though this study focuses on English language learning, the principles
of self-efficacy can be applied to other subjects, including ABM. This study highlights that self-
efficacy has a significant impact on the academic achievements of ABM students. Their belief in
their ability to succeed in their courses can lead to better academic performance

Statement of the Problem
This study aims to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and academic
achievement among ABM students at ACLC College of Manila for AY 2024-2025.
Specifically, it addresses the following:
1. How does self-efficacy influence academic performance in ABM subjects?
- 1.1 How confident are ABM students in their academic abilities?
- 1.2 How often do ABM students feel they can overcome academic challenges in their
courses?
- 1.3 How do students with low self-efficacy perceive their ability to handle academic
challenges?
2. What is the impact of self-efficacy on the mental health of ABM students?**
- 2.1 How does self-efficacy relate to the overall well-being and mental health of ABM
students?
3. What factors contribute to variations in self-efficacy among ABM students?**
- 3.1 How do academic strategies and study habits differ between students with high
and low self-efficacy?
CHAPTER 1
- 3.2 What methods do students with high self-efficacy use compared to those with low
self-efficacy when approaching their academic tasks
Hypotheses
There is significant relationship between self-efficacy and having good grades for ABM
students. Students with high self-efficacy are also more like to set higher goals and work harder
to achieve them because they are driven and dedicated to achieving their goals and to
strengthening their abilities and their overall academic performance to reach their target of
having a good grades.
There is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and academic achievement among ABM
students. This means that ABM students who believe more in their own ability to do well in
school are likely to have better grades.
Furthermore, the affirmative correlation between self-efficacy and academic performance
indicates that bolstering students' belief in their scholarly capabilities may result in notable
advancements in their academic results. Through the promotion of self-efficacy, educational
strategies can assist students in establishing more ambitious personal objectives, diligently
striving to fulfill them, and ultimately improving their educational achievements.
Scope
- The study will focus on exploring the relationship between self-efficacy and academic
achievements specifically among Grade 11 and 12 ABM students at ACLC College of Manila for
the academic year 2024-2025.
- Data collection will mostly consist of questionnaires and interviews to acquire information
about students' self-efficacy beliefs and academic performance.
- The study will look at how students' self-efficacy levels affect their learning outcomes,
motivation, and overall academic achievement in the ABM program at ACLC College of Manila.
- The study's goal is to give useful insights that will guide instructional practices and improve
satisfaction among students during the academic year.
CHAPTER 1
Delimitation
- The study will only include Grade 12 ABM students at ACLC College of Manila, with no other
academic programs or student cohorts considered.
- Data collection will concentrate entirely on self-efficacy beliefs and academic achievements,
excluding out other potential factors that may impact the performance of students.
- The research will take place throughout the academic year 2024-2025, which limits the amount
of time available for data gathering and processing.
- The study will not look at external factors other than self-efficacy and academic
accomplishment, such as personal circumstances or outside impacts on student performance.
Significance of the Study
the present study was significant to the relationship between self-efficancy and academic
achievement among ABM student, teachers, school administrators, and future researchers.
•Teachers they may use this research in order to establish intervention programs to bridge the
learning between self- efficancy and academic achivement among ABM student
•School Administrators. this study may enlighten them between self-efficancy over academic
achievement among ABM student, they can be more informed of the teaching style and
instructional materials required by the said approach in relationship between self-efficancy and
academic achivements among abm student
•Future Researches. they can extend the scope of the present investigation to formulate a
more generate conclusion, they may use this study as a source of both conceptual and research
literature when they conduct their own studies related to the topic of present study
