anemia awareness session at City 42.
The session aimed to shed light on
the alarming prevalence of anemia,
particularly among women of
reproductive age, and its detrimental
effects on overall health.

Success Story from


PIMS Hospital,
Islamabad
At PIMS Hospital Islamabad, Mrs. Sughra
Jameel experienced remarkable health
improvements in just 2 months through the
Nutrition Program by Allah Walay Trust. Her
hemoglobin levels increased from 8.9 at
registration to 11.3 after delivery, and her
baby was born with a healthy weight of 3.3 kg.
This success highlights the vital role of
proper nutrition in ensuring better maternal
and child health outcomes.

Program
The Maamta Program launch in
tertiary hospitals across Lahore,
Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and
Dera Ghazi Khan began with an
inspiring training session. Mr. Shahid
Lone, (Chairman of Allah Walay
Trust), delivered a motivating
welcome address, followed by Mr.
Sarfraz Hussain Kazmi (Head Nutrition
Program AWT)’s passionate program
overview. Dr. Zoha Aslam, (Program
Coordinator), provided operational
training, preparing the officers for the
program’s impactful implementation.

Anemia Free Pakistan
Campaign
A productive meeting at the Health Services Academy,
led by Dr. Shahzad (Vice Chancellor), Dr. Ayesha Sheraz
(Senior Research Consultant), and Mr. Sarfraz Kazmi
(Head Nutrition Program AWT), focused on expanding the
"Anemia Free Pakistan" campaign,. Key discussions
included strategies for broader reach, departmental
engagement, expanding anemia testing and innovative
nutrition interventions to improve health outcomes for
women and children nationwide.
AWARENESS SESSION AND
ANEMIA SCREENING AT HEALTH
SERVICES ACADEMY
Allah Walay Trust conducted an impactful awareness session and
anemia screening at the BS Nursing Department of Health
Services Academy. The session aimed to educate nursing
students and staff about the critical issue of anemia, its causes,
and preventive measures. Participants were also screened for
anemia, helping raise awareness about the condition's prevalence
and the importance of early detection. The initiative highlights
Allah Walay Trust’s commitment to improving public health
through education, prevention, and community engagement,
particularly in empowering healthcare professionals to identify
and address anemia in their communities.
Anemia Testing
in University of
Home Economics
Allah Walay Trust recently visited the
University of Home Economics to test
and guide female students on how to stay
anemia-free. The team provided valuable
insights into the causes and prevention
of anemia, along with tailored nutritional
advice and diet plans for students with
low hemoglobin levels. By educating the
students about the importance of proper
nutrition, the initiative led to positive
results, empowering young women to
take charge of their health and make
informed decisions to improve their
overall well-being.

Anemia Testing in
Superior University, Lahore
As part of the Maamta Program’s commitment to
improving women’s health, a Counseling and Hb Testing
Drive was held at Superior University through support
and active participation of volunteers.. This initiative
focused on raising awareness about anemia and its
prevention among young women.

Riffat Jabeen, (Director of Academics
Federal Directorate of Education),
and Shahid Lone, (Chairman Allah
Walay Trust) signed a Memorandum
of Understanding between Allah
Walay Trust and the Federal
Directorate of Education to provide
free school meals and date
interventions, aiming to make our
schools anemia-free!

Fighting Anemia,
3 Dates at a Time!
The AWT Nutrition Team conducted BMI and hemoglobin
screenings at IMSG (1-X) G9/1, evaluating 182 students.
Among them, 117 were underweight, and 69 were
anemic, including 39 moderately and severely anemic
cases. Similarly, at IMSG (1-X) P.E, G5, 276 students
were screened, revealing 155 underweight and 108
anemic students, with 43 moderately and severely
anemic.

In response, a school meal program has been initiated


for all students, providing three black dates daily to
anemic students, receiving positive feedback from
teachers. During a monitoring visit, students warmly
welcomed the AWT Nutrition Team with a traditional
healthy recipe competition.

A special recognition ceremony at
the Population Welfare Department
Punjab celebrated the outstanding
contributions of Miss Rukhsana
Kaiser, (Director of Training), for her
pivotal role in facilitating anemia
awareness, dietary interventions,
and supplementation follow-ups at
four Regional Training Institutes
(RTIs) in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan,
and Sahiwal. Under her guidance,
Allah Walay Trust (AWT) proudly
declared all four institutes as
anemia-free, acknowledging the
dedication and hard work of the RTI
principals. During the ceremony, Mr.
Shahid Lone, (Chairman of AWT),
and Mr. Sarfraz Kazmi, (Head
Nutrition Programs AWT), presented
shields to the principals in
recognition of their crucial efforts
and the vital role of Family Welfare
Workers in advancing maternal
health and improving the well-being
of women and children in the
region. Golden plates of Anemia
Free RTI were displayed in all RTIs
for the year 2023-2024.
