Intro Notes

The document discusses crystal structure systems, which consist of repeating patterns of atoms or molecules known as unit cells. It describes the lattice parameters that define the unit cell and introduces seven crystal systems, including the triclinic and monoclinic systems, highlighting their unique characteristics. Examples of crystals within these systems, such as Kynite and NaCl, are provided to illustrate the concepts.

1.1 Crystal Structure System Crystal Structure is made up group of atoms or molecules.

In it the
intrinsic nature of atoms or molecules produce the symmetrical patterns. The small group of atoms‟
pattern which is repeating is called the Unit Cell [1]. We can say the unit cell as a building block of
the crystal Structure. In it there is a lattice Parameters which include the length, edges of the
principal axes and the angle between the unit cells. It is also taken as the lattice constant. For
Example: The structure of NaCl has the crystal Structure System. In NaCl we have the electronic
clouds when we study it on Quantum level [2]. Basically we have seven crystal systems 1.1.1 Triclinic
Crystal System The triclinic system is the unsymmetrical. In it all the axes are inclined to each other
and all three axis has same length. Due to these three inclined angles we have different shape of
triclinic Crystals For Examples Kynite , Rhodonite , Feldspar etc. 1.1.2 Monoclinic System In it two
axes are at right angled to each other while the third one is inclined. It has axes of different lengths.
From the inner structure it includes basal pinacoids and prism with inclined end faces.
