Home Vs Community

Home: is a place where we

feel most connected, valued,
free and inspired.

Community: is group of people

living in a relatively closer
proximity and/or having a
common values, interests,
culture, and experiences.
Values Vs Culture

Values: are set of principles, ethics,

moral code, and standards given or
held by someone or a certain
culture.

Culture: is the social institutions,

lifestyle, way of life values,
customs achieved or built by a
certain nation, people or other
social group over a long period
of time.
Key Points
Home is different for many people.

Community covers what we define as a ‘home’ for larger group of

people, and community also consists of the similar physical
setting shared by other people, the shared
communications/interaction we have with one another,

The definition of the words for individuals might be different, but

the feelings are the same for everyone which is, safety,
comfort, trust, belongingness, love, & respect for the
culture. It is important to pay attention to those values of
individuals hold for their homes and community.

Summary
Active citizenship is about being responsible to our role as part of our community and
even our country and also holding others responsible as part of their responsibility.

An active citizen, for example, keeps their environment clean and also remind others not
to litter on the streets.

An active citizen is respectful of others culture, religion and engages in social appropriate
manner.

Active citizenship is also about knowing your responsibilities and also holds others
accountable to do the same.

Active citizens give back to their own community without necessarily due to financial
incentives because they understand that the more they give to the community the more
they will also revive.

Empowering people to influence the decisions which affect their lives will also encourage
our knowledge and understanding of the political, social, and economic context of our
participation so that we can also make informed decisions.
