OAA Notice and Demand for Payment

Why did I receive this notice?

You have unpaid debt to a school or government agency that was assigned to Other Agency
Accounts (OAA), a collections unit within the Oregon Department of Revenue. Please pay the
balance of your debt in full or make payment arrangements by Feb 1, 2023. See your options for
making payment arrangements below.

The information below is only for this debt. The enclosed statement of account may include other
state debts you owe.

The "reference period" is a unique date our system uses to track this debt. It's usually, but not
always, the date the debt was sent to OAA.

What else do I need to know about this debt?

The agency that assigned this debt to us for collection may have requested that the Oregon
Department of Motor Vehicles suspend your driver license. If your license is suspended, paying this
account in full won't automatically reinstate your license. Call the DMV at (503) 945-5000 for
information about reinstating your license.

If your license is suspended and you can't pay in full, you may be eligible for our Driver License
Reinstatement program. If you have questions or need more information about this program, call
us at (503) 945-8199 or toll free at (877) 222-2346, or visit our website at
www.oregon.gov/dor/agency-collections.
How do I pay?

• You can pay electronically using Revenue Online at www.oregon.gov/dor.

• You can pay by check, money order, or cashier's check. Please include the voucher from the

enclosed statement of account so we can apply your payment correctly.

What if I can't pay in full now?

You can set up a payment plan to pay in installments. If you choose to make payments over time
instead of paying in full, we may still issue a distraint warrant to ensure your account is paid in full.

• You can set up your own payment plan using Revenue Online at www.oregon.gov/dor.
• If you are unable to qualify for a payment plan on Revenue Online, call us at (503) 945-8199 or
toll-free at (877) 222-2346.

What happens if I don't pay in full?

If you don't pay your debt in full by Feb 1, 2023, state law authorizes us to issue a "distraint
warrant" for the total amount of the debt owed. This isn't an arrest warrant, but it does allow us to
take additional steps to collect the debt that you owe.

We may:

• Garnish your wages and bank accounts. Certain income, such as Social Security or
disability payments, is protected from garnishment.
• Record the distraint warrant with the county. This places a lien against your property
and may show up on your credit report. In addition, the lien may impact your existing or
future employment opportunities, ability to obtain federal student aid or ability to
purchase, refinance, or rent property.
• Keep your state refund or other payments and apply those amounts toward your debt.
• Take your federal refunds or other payments and apply those amounts toward your
debt. A federal offset fee is charged each time we receive a federal offset.

If you can't pay in full now, please make arrangements with us immediately. Don't delay.

More information on distraint warrants can be found in Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 267.385,
293.250, 314.430, 316.207, 320.080, 321.570, 323.390, 323.610, and 324.190.
