Topic:Introduction to Science

1. What is Science?

Science is the study of the natural world through observation and experimentation. It helps
us understand how things work and why they happen.

2. Branches of Science:

- Biology – The study of living organisms (plants, animals, humans).

- Chemistry – The study of substances and how they interact, combine, and change.

- Physics – The study of matter, energy, and the forces that affect them.

- Earth Science– The study of the Earth, including geology, meteorology, and oceanography.

- Astronomy – The study of space, stars, planets, and the universe.

3. Scientific Method:

1. Observation – Noticing something interesting or unexplained.

2. Question– Asking a question about what was observed.

3. Hypothesis – Making an educated guess or prediction.

4. Experiment – Testing the hypothesis with controlled steps.

5. Data Collection – Recording what happens during the experiment.

6. Conclusion – Deciding if the hypothesis was correct or not.

7. Communication– Sharing results with others.

4. Importance of Science:

- Helps solve problems and improve lives

- Leads to new technology and innovation

- Protects the environment and promotes health

5. Safety in Science:

- Always follow instructions

- Wear safety gear (gloves, goggles, etc.)

- Handle equipment carefully

- Report any accidents or spills to the teacher
